- - Running on the trails in a park around dusk. See a nice kitty up ahead of me. "Here, kitty kitty." Then get close enough to see it is NOT a kitty (I'm near-sighted as all get-out and don't wear my glasses when I run)but a SKUNK! Too late! Wow, do those skunks have great aim!
--Trail running again in my favorite San Antonio park. Go around a bend in the trail and a darn deer comes barreling out right in front of me across the trail, brushing my chest and knocking me right on my keister! Sheesh! This happens a lot. I swear, when I go run in my park and the deer see me coming I do believe they think it is play-time. ;)
--Running home one night in England down a dark country lane to my small English cottage. Suddenly to the right of me these BIG SHAPES loom up. As an avid reader, naturally all the ghost stories of England come immediately to my mind. Yikes! Then one of them.....moos at me? My neighbors' cows, lol! They had been lying by the fence and got to their feet upon my coming. Scared the beejezus outta me! And this city boy didn't realize how BIG a darn cow was either, until that moment.
--Running in my neighborhood. See one of my canine pals in the back of his human's pick-up truck. He sees me coming, starts barking and wagging his tail. As I come up to the truck, this idiot dog JUMPS from the truck towards me and I have to catch him in my arms! Sheesh.
And so it goes. I should write a book someday.
