my son looks at playgirl by scottlokker
copyright 2000

a child arrived just the other day
came to the world in the usual way
i thought to myself i hope that he's not gay
but i knew in my heart all i could do was pray
he was talkin' before i knew it
but i was wrong he said,
"i'm gonna be like mom" yea,
"i'm gonna be just like mom"

my son turned ten just the other day
he wore a pink dress and had his hair in braids
i thought to myself, this couldn't get any worse
he opened his gift and it was a purse
he didn't even know that he dropped a bomb
when he said, "i look just like mom" yea,
"i wanna look like mom"

now my son looks at playgirls in the bathroom
he lost his virginity to a broom
how could this have happened, was it something i did
all i wanted was a normal kid, yea
all i wanted was a normal kid

he came home last year on valentine's day
he introdused me to his boyfriend ray
i lied through my teeth, said, "bob i'm proud of you"
he said, "thanks alot dad, but can ya call me sue?"
"i've got an appointment with a surgeon named tom,
i'm finally gonna be like mom" yea,
"i'm finally gonna pee like mom"

now my son looks at playgirls in the bathroom
he lost his virginity to a broom
how could this have happened, was it something i did
all i wanted was a normal kid, yea
all i wanted was a normal kid

well, i was in denial, for all it was worth
i had convinced myself that he was switched at birth
i knew in my heart that it just wasn't true
there was no way in hell i had a son named sue
so i went to the doctor for a dna test
it turned out just like i had guessed, yea
it turned out just like i had guessed

and as i looked at his face it occurred to me
the boy looks nothin' like me, yea
that boy looks nothin' like me

someone's son looks at playgirl in my bathroom
their little boy, well he's fuckin' a broom
how could this have happened, well, i really don't care
i've got a normal son somewhere, yea
i've got a normal son somewhere
back ...from the first
