Biography
Scott A. Regan is executive vice president for Memorial Health, with responsibility for marketing, strategic planning, women's and children's services, orthopedics, neurology and neurosurgery, medical and clinical education, and human resources. He also leads the organization's quality initiative.

Headquartered in Savannah, Georgia, Memorial Health is an integrated health-care delivery system anchored by a 530-bed tertiary care hospital. The system includes a home health agency that serves 34 counties in Georgia and South Carolina, 37 physician practices, occupational medicine services, a full-service managed care division, ambulance and helicopter services, and regional affiliations with six rural hospitals. Memorial Health is also the Savannah campus for Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon. Memorial Health is managed by Quorum Health Resources, the largest hospital management company in the country.

Prior to joining Memorial Health, Scott was consulting leader for marketing and public relations at Tenet-owned Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama.

Scott has also served as the director of public relations at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, a 714-bed academic medical center with more than $50 million in sponsored research. He was also a partner in the public relations consulting firm of Regan & Keenan, which specialized in crisis and issue management, as well as the shaping of public opinion.

Because of his experience in the field of corporate culture, Internet development, strategic planning, issue management, and crisis management, he is frequently a featured speaker at conferences across the country, appearing before 42 since 1992. What’s more, he is often quoted in the health-care trade press and is the author of numerous health-care articles.

Scott’s philosophy blends public relations with marketing, and he has pioneered the use of
advanced technologies to build and maintain relationships with large numbers of constituents. His emphasis on relationship-building and his work in this arena has garnered him more than 40 awards since 1988. He has also won the coveted Silver Anvil Award of Excellence from the Public Relations Society of America, the highest honor in the field of public relations.

Scott has served on the board of directors of the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development of the American Hospital Association in Chicago, Illinois, and the Issue Management Council in Washington, D.C. He currently serves on numerous civic and community boards, including the Greater Savannah Sports Council, Better Business Bureau of the Coastal Empire, and Team Savannah (an international weightlifting training center). He has served on the Allocations Committee of the Greater Savannah United Way and currently chairs its communication committee. In January, 2000, he was recognized as one of Savannah’s top 40 business leaders under the age of 40 by the Business Journal of Savannah.

Scott is the creator of three crisis simulations for health-care communications executives and is the author of the critically acclaimed Health Care Emergency Public Relations Manual, a comprehensive crisis plan for health-care organizations.
Scott graduated from the Ohio University School of Journalism with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and will receive a Masters in Health Services Administration degree from Armstrong Atlantic State University in July 2001.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Scott, 43, is married to Laura Skarupa Regan. Together, they have two daughters: Lauren, 13; and Whitney, 12.
