Monschau in the Eifel region of Nordrhein-Westfalen. Set in a beautiful valley, these half-timbered houses date back to the 17th century. Charming place to walk through with its'narrow winding cobbled streets. A delight to visit. |

Vianden in Luxembourg. Not much to see in Luxembourg. The general architecture is rather dull apart from some main buildings in the city of Luxembourg itself. The castle of Vianden was impressive - sitting on a hill in the Ardennes. Its foundations date back to the 10th century, its main buildings are about 13th century. Didn't go inside, but great photo opportunities of the outside from just about every angle. |

Antwerp, Belgium. Interesting place. Not a great first impression as we got lost trying to get to the city centre, and were impeded by massive roadworks that made the place look like some Eastern European war zone. The old town was wonderful with musical church bells, wonderful architecture and Palm beer isn't half bad! It's a diamond town so lots of orthodox jews around. The weather wasn't the greatest but we braved the elements and explored. Europe is just wonderful for walking tours. Good exercise too and you can always be rewarded with a drink at a cafe. |
