Europe 2005
I travelled to Europe for just two weeks in June/July.  Here are just some of the photos I took...
Aachen, on the westernmost point of Germany, was my base in Europe.  Charlemagne's permanent residence in the 8th century.  He was buried in the cathedral.  It's also a student city, and was bigger than I had imagined from a dot on a map.  A pleasant town, and easy to explore France, Belgium the Netherlands and Luxembourg from there..
These tiny cars amused me - a Smart fortwo.  I'd never seen such a small vehicle that wasn't a golfcart or something.  Now available in NZ, but I'd never seen one before this trip.  This was taken at a point where three countries meet - Germany, Netherlands and Belgium.
Maastricht, the Netherlands.
I was astounded at the number of cyclists.  And that you could take your dog anywhere.  This dog stroller really amused me.  What a great life.  I would love to be able to take my dog shopping. The Dutch are great - so free and easy.  And yes, came across a shop selling dope openly.
