"He who loses wealth loses much; He who loses a friend loses more;
He who loses his courage loses all."
MIGUEL DE CERVANTES

"God grant that not only the love of liberty, but that a thorough knowledge of the rights of man may pervade all nations of the earth
so that a philosopher may set his foot anywhere on its surface and say, 'This is my country.'"
BENJAMIN FRANKLIN

"...a wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned.
THOMAS JEFFERSON

"Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth.

THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IS BABYLON
Once this was a great country, these United States of America. What happened? Of the three branches of the U.S. government, not one is even remotely efficient, nor can any part of our present governmental systems be said to function for the betterment of our society. In the Legislative branch we are over-legislated to the the point of dysfunctionality; in the Executive Branch our Presidents have foreign interests and self-interest put ahead of the interests of citizens; and in the Judicial Branch we are easily stripped of life, liberty and property at the whim of a plethora of government agencies.

Everything is un-American that tends either to government by a plutocracy or of a mob. Corporate bullies are today's plutocrats: Special Interest Groups and Political Action Committees are the "mob rule" of our day.

Interesting fact: At one point in Ancient Greece, in a desperate attempt to prevent idiot statesmen from proposing stupid laws and forcing those laws upon the people, lawmakers were required to introduce all new laws while standing on a platform with a rope around their neck. If the law passed by a majority vote, the rope was removed: if the law failed to pass, the platform was removed....
