    At 4:30 A.M. Pacific Standard Time on January 17th, 1994, the San Fernando Valley of Southern California was rocked by an earthquack.  The Earthquake that centered in the Northridge California registered a 6.7 on the Richter Scale.  Damge from the earthquake was widespread as the earthquake was felt all throughout the San Fernando Valley.  This earthquake was the first earthquake in the United States to be centered under an urban area since the 1933 earthquake in Long Beach.  The quake that lasted 15 seconds injured over 9000 and caused 51 deaths.  Furthermore, millions in damage was caused to roads, homes, and other property throughout the entire area.
