PART 5

PROPERTIES OF INITIALS AND SETS OF INITIALS

The Qur’anic Initial "Q" (Qaaf)

1.     The initial “Q”  (Qaaf) 0ccurs in only two surahs of the Qur’an, 42 and 50.

        Surah 42 consists of 53 verses.   42 + 53  =  95  = 19 x 5

        Surah 50 consists of 45 verses.   50 + 45  =  95  = 19 x 5

        same total as in Surah 42.

2.            The count of the letter  “Q”  in “Q-initialled” Surah  42 is:   57 =  19 x 3

         The count of  the letter “Q”  in “Q-initialled” Surah  50 is:   57 =  19 x 3

  same number as in Surah 42, in spite of the fact that Surah 42 is almost  twice as long as Surah 50.

Note: An important point to note here is that mentioning of Prophet Lut with reference to his people has been described in the Qur’an 13 times. At 12 places (Verses: 7:80,  11:70,  11:74,  11:89,  21:74,  22:43,  26:160,  27:54,  27:56,  29:28,  38:13 and 54.33) the word “Qaom” (using letter “Q”) has been used for “his people”, while in Q-initialled Surah 50 (Verse 50:13) the word “Ikhwan” and not “Qaom” has been used so that the total count of “Q” in this surah to remain 57. The usual use of the word “Qaom” in this verse would have increased the count of “Q” to 58, not divisible by “19”.

3.    Total count of the letter  “Q”  in the two “Q-initialled”  surahs is:

                                                               114  =  19 x 6

        equal to the number of surahs in the Qur’an. It probably points out that “Q” means “Qur’an” and 114 “Qs” meaning “complete Qur’an” carrying 114 surahs.

4.   Total count of the letter  "Q"  in every  "Verse-19"  throughout the Qur’an:

       (See Table 5.1) is:                          76  = 19 x 4
