INTRODUCTION
What is Miracle “19” ?
Out of the 30 different numbers mentioned in the Holy Qur’an (See Table 1.1), the number “19” is the first number mentioned in it in the chronological order of revelation. It is in Surah 74 (revelation order 4) verse 30, which says:
74.30 “Over it (Hell) are Nineteen (guards)”.
In the very next verse (Verse 31) the significance of this number is explained by Allah Himself, saying that:
74.31 “We have appointed none but angels as wardens of the fire; and We have made their number a trial for the unbelievers, so that the People of the Book may be convinced and the faith of the true believers may be increased, and that no doubts will be left for the People of the Book and the believers, and that those in whose hearts there is a disease and the disbelievers may say: “What could Allah mean by this parable?” Thus, Allah leaves to stray whom He wills and guides whom He pleases. No one knows the forces of your Lord except Himself, and this (Qur’an) is nothing but a reminder to the mankind.”
Soon after this revelation, the verse “Bismillah Al-Rahman Al Raheem” was revealed for the first time, which has “19” Arabic letters.
In 1974, an Egyptian scholar, Dr. Rashid Khalifa, through his intensive research in Qur’an discovered for the first time that in fact number “19” is a common denominator and is interwoven in the whole text of the Holy Qur’an. After that a number of scholars added their findings and this process is still going on. Some of the examples are very simple to understand, while others are highly complicated and need specially made computers which could solve number problems containing hundreds of digits. In this Article only simple examples are given.
What This Miracle Proves?
The placement of letters, words, verses and surahs in which number “19” is interwoven in a highly sophisticated and complicated manner confirms the following:
1. No human being or any other creation including a computer could ever generate this text keeping “19” as a common denominator throughout the Qur’an, and the challenge of Allah in the following verses of the Qur’an to the non-believers is true and will always remain true.
2:23 “If you are in doubt as to whether the revelations which We have sent down to Our servant (Muhammad) are from Us or not, then produce one Surah like this; and call your witnesses (gods that you call upon, or even computers or other machines that you could make for this purpose) besides Allah to assist you, if you are right in your claim.”
2:24 “But if you are unable to do so, and you will never be able to do so, then fear the Hell fire, whose fuel is men and stones which is prepared for the unbelievers.”
17:88 Say, “If the whole mankind and “Jinns” combine their resources to produce the like of this Qur’an, they would never be able to compose the like thereof, even if they backed up each other as best as they could.”
2. It confirms that not a single letter of Qur’an has been changed or misplaced since its revelation, and the Qur’an is intact in its original form, otherwise the whole Miracle “19” could have gone astray.
3. It also confirms that the declaration of Allah in the following verse is true without a shadow of doubt:
15: 9 “Surely, We have sent down this reminder (The Qur’an) and verily We are its guardian.”
This claim is especially extraordinary because this declaration was made at a time when there was no apparent means available to keep Qur’an guarded.
This Miracle was to be Disclosed Later
The discovery of this miracle, i.e. the proof of divine authorship of Qur’an, was destined to remain secret for a specific period and was to be disclosed some time later, as has been predicted in Qur’an in Verse 10:20, which says,
10:20 They say, ”Why has not a sign been sent down to him (Muhammad) from his Lord?” Tell them: The unseen belongs to Allah. So wait, I too shall wait with you.
Now, the waiting time is over, and the momentous discovery of Miracle "19" has come as a sign from Allah, as predicted, after the invention of the computers. It proves beyond any doubt that Qur’an is the message from Allah as no human being or even computers could ever compose this message.
