Question Work Answer
1.  What is the velocity of a wave that has a frequency of 2 Hz and a wavelength of 10 m? v = λ • f
v = 10 • 2

v = 20 m/s
2.  What is the frequency of a wave that has a wavelength of 5 meters and a velocity of 200 m/s? f = v / λ
f = 200 / 5
f = 40 Hz
3.  What is the wavelength of a wave that has a velocity of 50 m/s and a frequency of 5 Hz? λ = v / f
λ = 50 / 5
λ = 10 m
4.  What is the velocity of a wave that has a wavelength of 100 cm and a frequency of 2 Hz? v = λ • f
100 cm -> 1 m

v = 1 • 2
v = 2 m/s
(v = 200 m/s if you didn't convert)
5.  What is the frequency of a wave that has a wavelength of 200 mm and a velocity of 10 m/s? f = v / λ
200 mm -> 0.2 m
f = 10 / 0.2
f = 50 Hz
(f = 0.05 Hz if you didn't convert)
6.  What is the wavelength of a wave that has a frequency of 50 cHz and a velocity of 100 m/s? λ = v / f
50 cHz -> 0.5 Hz
λ = 100 / 0.5
λ = 200 m
(λ = 2 m if you didn't convert)
7.  Two waves are traveling with a wavelength of 2 meters.  Wave A has a frequency of 20 Hz.  Wave B has a frequency of 40 Hz.  Which wave has the greatest speed? Wave A
v = λ • f
v = 2 • 20 = 40 m/s
Wave B
v = λ • f
v = 2 • 40 = 80 m/s
Wave B has a greater speed
8.  Three waves are traveling with a frequency of 10 Hz.  Wave A has a wavelength of 2 m.  Wave B has a wavelength of 50 cm.  Wave C has a wavelength of 100 m.  Rank these waves in order from slowest to fastest speed. v = λ • f
Wave A
v = 2 • 10 = 20 m/s
Wave B
50 cm -> 0.5 m
v = 0.5 • 10 = 5 m/s
Wave C
v = 100 • 10 = 1000 m/s
Slow to fast:
B -> A -> C
9.  What is the wavelength of a wave that has a frequency of 1000 cHz and a velocity of 200 km/s? λ = v / f
1000 cHz -> 10 Hz
200 km/s -> 200,000 m/s
λ = 200,000 / 10
λ = 20,000 m
10.  What is the frequency of a wavelength of 0.025 hm and a velocity of 50 m/s? f = v / λ
0.025 hm -> 2.5 m
f = 50 / 2.5
f = 20 Hz
