
Biography
    Sam Phelps' interest in woodworking began as a child from his mother who pursued it as a hobby. His mahogany pen & pencil set won first place in the statewide Virginia woodshop competition. His interest in fine arts started in early highschool while working on the school yearbook and newspaper as a photographer. His photography of musical performances have been exhibited at the Las Vegas Alladin and his still lifes shown at the Birmingham Museum of Art. His three brothers and father hold advanced degrees in engineering so the sciences of chemistry, math and archetecture influence his ideas and designs of sculptures, clocks, easels and zen gardens.
    After 25 years as a computer programmer/analyst, Sam is working on a PhD in Mathematics and has changed careers to teach at the community college.
