Williams was a college student who went to a cabin in the woods, any woods to enjoy the weekend. There, they come across a tape recorder and a book. The recorder gets played revealing the book is the Necronomicon Ex Mortis, the Book of The Dead. It contains several incantations which awaken long sleeping demons.
(Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn)Ash is a guy who takes his girlfriend up to a cabin, who cares who lives there. He plays the tape player, awakens the demons, practically is driven insane by the demons that haunt the woods. His hand is possessed, so he cuts that off in a fit of temporary insanity. Becomes a tough guy near the end as he adopts a chainsaw to his right stump.
Army of Darkness)Ash, a pissed-off bragart who works at "S-Mart", a K-Mart knock off,is transported back to 1300 AD as a result to a battle with demons. He's almost killed by a demon and is pissed at the "primitive screwheads" that sentenced him to die. He uses his ego to try and be better than the medivals. But he still gets beat-up by demons along the way, to the point where a "Bad Ash" pops out of his body. As he unwittingly unlesses the "army", he decides he's going to train these chumps about 20th century combat, IE: gun powder, attacking with a staff. They win the day and he returns home. He battles a demon in the store and looks even more the hero!
