Daredevil
The film begins with blood running down a church wall, mixed with fuzzy images of conflict. Atop the church, a costumed man clings to a cross. He glides down a rope into the church, but falls to the floor. He crawls painfully to the altar, as a priest enters the hall and runs to him. He unmasks the person reacts as if he knows the man. An inner monologue from the character says that even blind people see their life flash before their eyes. He is Matt Murdock, as a young boy, he lived with his father, ex-boxer Jack "The Devil" Murdock. After getting in a an altercation with a few bullies goes home to his tired father. Matt says he has heard from said bullies he's on the take. But he tells the boy he works at at docks for double overtime. One day on the way home from school, he sees his dad shaking down someone for the mob, and runs away. During the run, he comes across a forklift, that turns out of the way from the rushing boy and pierces a barrell of biohazard waste, which splashes in the boy's eyes. He is stricken blind, but his other four senses are dramatically enhanced. While in the hospital, his hearing develops a radar sense spanning out every possible sound in the immediate area, which drives him momentarily crazy. His father comes into the room to apologize for lying to the boy.
The two make s a silent agreement, they will not quit. The dad takes up boxing again, whilest the boy learnes to read braile and concentrate on bettering himself. Along the way, the kid learns of his new found skills, amoungst them agilty and balance, which he uses to traverse the city scape. Down the line, his father is killed after he wouldn't throw a match, which he won for young Matty. A rose is thrown on the body. As young Matt found the body, he decided to take up the cause of justice. Years later, Matt is an attorney in Hell's Kitchen in court at a trial against a charged rapist. He can sense the guy is lying, but the con still gets off scott free. Later that night, as the guy drinks at a bar, a costumed figure spies from above. He is the vigilante known as Daredevil. He proceeds to whoop anyone in his way until he can reach the felon. His radar senses bullets flying by, people in the bar, even fan blades. This culminates in the felon being chased down a subway, confronted by Daredevil, and being knocked down onto the track as a train approaches. Later, the area is a crime scene with a half body being wheeled away as reporter Ben Urich investigates the scene, believeing it's a DD story. The lead cp there tells him there is no story, but Urich throws his lit cigarette at a spot of pavement, revealing a flaming double D.
DD goes home and takes off his costume to reveal the blind lawyer Matt Murdock, who has a body full of scars, presumably from more than one battle. He pulls out a loose tooth, takes painkillers, and sleeps in a sensory depravation tank, all to the sounds of yet another woman breaking up with him over his answering machine. Next day, He goes to church and tries to confess, but the priest thinks that he's asking permission to punish the guilty. In an other side of town, a large suited man known as the Kingpin is pissed due to the untimely passing of the rapist. He is Wilson Fisk, a local business man by day. He makes a call to Bullseye, who is in an Irish pub, killing a guy (with paper clips no less) who won't pay up after he nails six bullseyes in a dart board. Matt eats breakfast with his partner "Foggy" Nelson who is dying to get out of the pro bono and get some money, but Murdock only wants to defend the innocent. Matt detects a woman coming in from a half block away. She comes in and sits down, foggy says she's hideous, but Matt goes anyways and puts the moves on her. He bumps into her, but she doesn't realize he's blind, until she looks up. She leaves without telling him her name. So he follows the scent to a school yard where they do some high flying martial arts until she tells him her name is Elektra Notchias. Back at Kingpin's office, her father, Nicolas Notchias, tells the kingpin he wants out, and offers to be bought out. Matt and Elektra walk down a street, and she is amazed that for a blind man, he can sense things such as on coming cars and what not. Fisk is walking with his lackeys saying that he wants to set Notchias up as the Kingpin the press is trying to find. Dardevil goes after a Kingpin enforcer, chasing him to his apartment, and beats him nearly to death, infront of a child who is terrified in a corner fearing for his life. He tells the kid and to himself atop a ledge that he's not the bad guy.
The next morning, Foggy and Matt recieve an invite to a ball thrown by Elektra's dad, but Matt doesn't want to go. He's still upset by the incident of the prior evening. On a plane, Bullseye kills an old lady who won't shut up as he's listening to his rock music with a ricocheted peanut. Matt walks downtown and smells the unmistakeable scent behind him Murdock walks along a city street and detects Elektra following him, so he takes her up to his apartment. He admires a necklace she is wearing, it's a good luck charm. He kisses her on the roof in the rain (which allows him to "see" the rain hitting her face and does then horizontal polka. Next morning, Matt wakes up with an invite on his other pillow. In NYC, Bullseye grabs a motorcycle from another unlucky guy. He wakes up to an invite to a party thrown by her father. He reluctantly goes, but Foggy is excited about it. There they meet up with Fisk whom Foggy wants to court, but Matt says he does not defend the guilty. Matt and Foggy meet up with Urich at said party, saying he's interested in the Kingpin stories he has written. Urich gives matt his card, saying he has info for as he admires Murdock's red walking cane as he picks it up after knocking it down. Then Matt senses Elektra at the top of a flight of stairs and walks to her, dances with her. Fisk goes to her father and warns him that she may yet again see a parent die before her eyes,(as he puts a rose in Mr. Notchias's suitcoat pocket) which alarms him, so he bolts. Seeing this, Elektra follows him to thier limo. Matt leaves.
As the Notchiases exit via limo, Elektra spies DD running on a roof. Just as Bullseye throws stars at the limo's driver and security resulting in the limo crashing. DD jumps to the ground and charges the assassin as he rides his bike towards the vigilante. DD kicks the man off the bike and dodges a throwing star, which shocks Bullseye as he never misses. But he grabs DD's billy club and throws it at an exiting Mr. Notchias and kills him in front of Elektra, She didn't see who threw it, but blames Daredevil, shooting at him as he scales a building. She goe to the boddy of he father and holds him. Upon arriving at his apartment, DD starts tearing the place apart out of rage for his failure. Bullseye meets up with the Kingpin and says he will kill the girl and Daredevil, but wants a costume.
Fiak attends Mr. Notchias's funeral, as Elektra leaves, Matt is there asking her to stay with him. It starts to rain, and just as he sees the rain on her face, she pulls out an umbrella and takes off. In the morgue, Urich is called by the medical examiner who presents him with DD's red billy club which, with a turn of an end, extends to a walking cane.
The next day, Matt runs into Urich who tells him that Kingpin will not only kill you, but your family, and said he thought that Murdock might know of someone who could help.
that night, Elektra is seen in a room, working out with sais on dropping sand bags, whilest, Matt suits up elsewhere. The preparations are interwined until she throws a sai through a bag with a horned face drawn on it.
DD patrols a rooftop with laundry hanging all around, when from behind a shhet, Elektra pops out and takes a fight to him, even though he protests his innocence, and that Bullseye did it. He watches from high above as the two fight, DD more or less just defending himself. They go at it form roof to roof until she pins him against a window and stabs through his upper left chest with a sai. He slumps to the ground. She unmasks him and it's Matt. She realizes too late he was telling the truth, and looks to laughter from above at the real killer. She remasks the hero and throws a sai at him, which he catches and throws back. She tries to catch, but it goes through her right hand. The two then engage in a fight, with DD trying as hard as he can to fight some kind of strength. Bullseye impales her with her own sai, and drops her down towards dd as police copters shine on Bullseye who makes an escape. Elektra "dies" in DD's arms. He escapes and the film goes back to the point at the beginning.
DD is in the arms of the priest when a throwing star hits the altar. Bullseye starts walking down the aisle, acknowledges the holy trinity, and tells the priest that it was a warning. Matt tells the man to go out the back way as he puts the mask back on DD. Daredevil Gets up to face the assassin. Bullseye climbs up a rather tall pipe organ, with DD running after him and rappeling up. They fight on the thing, at one point hanging off of a free hanging pipe and make their way to an upper level. The wto face eachother, with Bullseye throwing his remaining stars at DD, he "catching" them on his billy club, then throwing the stick at Bullseye's skull carving. In a doorway, The assassin grabs the door heading, and kicks into the above stained glass, lands and catches shards and pieces as they fall. He fings them one by one at DD, who back springs out of the way of each one. On the street below, police is surrounding the church and the head SWAT tells a sniper to get a line of sight on both of them. With a last piece, Bullseye, knocks DD down and tries to stab him with it, DD holding the arms back as much as he can all the while blabbing about how Fisk is the Kingpin. With the realization, DD senses a shot being taken and moves Bullseye's hands in the line of fire. The bullet goes right through them, with him screaming in pain and saying DD took away his hands. DD pushes him out the window behind them, where the assassin falls on Ben Urich's arriving car."Bullseye" DD says before he takes air to the building across the street. The priest whispers words of encouragement as DD goes from rooftop to rooftop.
At Fisk's office, his assistant arrives with news of Bullseye's failure. Fisk tells him to send the guards home as he will settle the issue man to man. He takes off his suit coat and dress shirt and waits until a limping DD arrives behind him. Kingpin tells the man he regrets not being able to face him in his prime, but he'll take him anyway he can. So they tussle, and Fisk is just mopping the floor with him. He throws DD straight up into the ceiling and into wall roughly 20 feet away. Fisk goes to the fallen hero and unmasks him, to his surprise it's the blind lawyer Matt Murdock. He ackowledges that he killed his father back int he day, but it was business. With his radar sense, Murdock sees a leak in the wall, truns out, it's a glass pipeway, so he smashes the thing, as Kingpin is about to give a final blow. With water splashing all around, Matt can "see" the man and starts to open a can up on him. He slides underneath Fisk after a minute or two, and kicks the man's knees, causing Fisk to scream in pain. Kingpin is yelling he'll make DD pay, but Matt can hear cops coming and they have a firm ID on Fisk as the Kingpin. Matt is about to hit Fisk over the head with his cane, but just thrusts it into the ground, Saying he's the good guy. Fisk says he'll reveal DD's ID, but he says that the crooks at Riker's will enjoy it as he got beat up by a blind man. DD says he'll be waiting for him when he gets out.
The next morning, Matt and Foggy are drinking coffee at the shop, reading the newspaper on Fisk, Matt turns to the door, but, it's a differnet woman, Not Elektra. Matt tells Foggy he's going for a walk, and leaves. He goes to the roof of his apartment and finds a copy of Elektra's necklace hanging, with braile on it. At his office, Ben Urich is writing his latest story, an expose on who Daredevil really is, that being Matt Murdock. He's about to print it, but he deletes the story. He exits the New York Post offices, it's night outside and who does he spy on the roof across the street, but Daredevil. Urich whispers "go get them, Matt" to which DD nods his head and takes off, leaping off the building to fight another hoodlum.
Halfway through the film's credits, police are guarding a hospital room. Inside the room, a heavily bandaged man is annoyed by a fly. Off camera, the fly is struck with a syringe on the wall. The patient says one word out of the side of his mouth: "Bullseye".
