Ever since I had seen trailers for the film, I had serious reservations of seeing the film. The only scene that made me half way want to see the film was the image of Jedi in a circle, fighting for their lives. I got a call Friday night from a friend I hadn't more or less heard from in 10 years. 4 times during the conversation, he told me I had to see the film because it was just as good as Episode V. And so I went friday night not expecting much, but I must say, I WAS WRONG. Star Wars Episode II Attack Of the Clones is just as good as Episode V.
The story takes place 10 years after Episode I and involves Anakin Skywalker's efforts to protect Senator Amidala, and Obi-Wan Kenobi's effort in hunting her would be assassin. Anakin realizes he loves her, but she doesn't want to get involved for personal reasons. In hunting the culprit, Obi-Wan gets captured by a renegade jedi, he's trying to secede from the Republic, Anakin and Amidala try to save him, the two get captured. She realizes her love for the young jedi and it's a huge Jedi Rescue from a Roman coliseum. It's a much better story than the first "Non-event".
The critics would have you believe that the performances are wooden, but I fell for Anakin hook, line, and sinker. I welled up at his personal tragedy and the after math, I was a little put off by his "Me" attitude, byt hey, he's a Jedi who wants to be powerful, what do you want? Obi-Wan is still the perfect warrior trying to solve a mystery, while making sure his young charge is safe, as best he can. I didn't like the fact that a certain little green fella was going to be CGI for this film, but I was not disappointed with it as he is more expressive, both emotionally and physically, BOY is he expressive physically.
My Rating (out of 4) 4
Return to Attack of The Clones
