| 30 July 2002 12:55 am Tuesday I have a newfound HUGE respect for moms. I went over to Lauren's today to watch Jay while she got some stuff done in her new house, and I realized just how tough it can be. The carrying and feeding and listening to the whining and trying to make him laugh... It takes a lot out of a person! I was having a tough time just carring him around. Lucky for her, Jay is really cute, so it was worth it and even fun. After he went to bed, Johnny and Lauren asked for my help in decorating. This was a dream! I got to completely arrange their living room a la Trading Spaces and it now looks great. AND I managed to do it in such a way that both of them liked it, which was nice since they had very different ideas coming into the project. Of course, I'd love to make some slip covers for the couch, repaint their coffee table, and put up the right pictures for the room (but those are still packed somewhere)... but maybe another day. Once they start moving their stuff into the right places, perhaps they'll allow me to arrange their dining room, too. Not that there's much to it, but still. And on top of all of this, I may even get a bookshelf out of this! They don't need it, and I was looking for one, so it just works out. Joy. As for yesterday... the Area 2 festival was fantastic. Charles, Angela and I got there after Ash (who is Ash?) and before Blue Man Group, so we went to the transmission tent for a bit. We saw Gay Raver!!! Woooo! Anyways, we went back out for BMG, who were so entertaining and put on a great show. Next was Busta Rhymes, who was so-so as a performer. I don't think he ever finished a full song, and he was cursing up a storm, but at least he was kind of funny. I think I like him better in videos and on those soda commercials, though. And then there was David Bowie. Oh David, you're SOOOO cool! Angela doesn't find him too attractive, but my oh my is he sexy. He was great live - very energetic, and you could tell that he loved what he was doing, which made it all the better. The evening was topped off with Moby. He seems like such a quiet and quirky little dude in interviews and such, but once he got on stage he was a fireball. I think his light show probably caused an epilleptic seizure, but it was a perfect reflection of his energy level. Once again, he amazed me. The entire event was oh so great. It's one festival I will always make it a point to go to. But yes, that's it for me. I'm actually still at home. I need to rearrange my room one of these days because I refuse to unpack my stuff until that's done. But I am slowly but surely getting my errands done, so yay me. Life is good. |
