| Ash Wednesday 5 March 2003 5:13 pm "You are Chow Yun Fat. You are a charming and devilishly attractive person. On one side you are strong, wise, cool and calm, but on the other side you enjoy chaos, bullets, guns, explosions, blondes and have a knack for killing people. Your primary colors of dress are grey and black. You like the expensive stuff." Hell yeah baby! Click the picture to find out which Asian action super-star you are. You know you wanna be Bruce Lee! Anyways... Life is officially GOOD. I had the BEST day of my year yesterday. I saw an old friend (like, we've known each other since before either of us hit puberty) who I hadn't seen in over two years. Talk about a pleasantly surprising reunion. There was a flurry of hugs and tons of talking and laughing. The boy grew up, too! Last time I saw him he was 17, and I thought he was hot then. Time has been oh so good to him... Aw man, that meeting in itself made yesterday the Best Day of the Year. But the great thing is that my day remained excellent. I went out to a bar for Mardi Gras, and sure I got some beads, but the bar sucked. Luisa had the same feeling and we were like, you wanna go dance? So off to Bridges we went to dance for over an hour to good music. (Hehe who needs the gym when I get 60+ min of cardio while dancing!) I was still reeling in joy from my earlier encounter that I was even receptive to all the random people who were trying to talk and dance with me. That never happens... but I got a kick out of it, so yay. Oh, and on top of the dancing (which seems like it'd be good enough, right), I saw a few other friends I hadn't seen in a while. And THEN I walked right into Charlie, who I had no idea would be there. He was with a dude we went to high school with and his really really hot friend. I kept thinking, wow today just keeps getting better... Joy of joys, Life is officially good. Oh. Lent begins today. For ye non-Catholics out there (shame on you, hehehe, nah I'm just jealous) Lent is a time made famous by that Josh Hartnett Movie "40 Days and 40 Nights" about giving something up. This includes meatless Fridays (oh the pain!), and sacrificing something until Easter. I believe this is so we can identify with how Jesus suffered in the desert for a long while before he ended up being tortured and crucified to die for our sins and stuff. The ultimate Do-Gooder. Kind of a shame, almost, since there are more wicked people now than ever, and I'm not even talking about Bin Laden and the sort, I just mean in every day life... Anyways. So yeah, I have to sacrifice something that's at least somewhat regular and important in my life (otherwise how would it be a sacrifice). This year I've chosen a plethora of carbs: rice (que horror!), most pasta/noodles (but I can eat the noodles involved with dim sum) , pancakes and waffles. I'm just eliminating the carbs that don't provide much nutritional value. I can still eat my 12-grain bread, cereal, and oatmeal, though, so I'll get energy AND fiber. Yay. The things I do for my faith... Hehe. |
