| Monday 24 February 2003 3:06 am I FINALLY got to go to Dream on Saturday. I've been trying to go for a long time, but it never worked out. It's supposed to be one of the nicer clubs in the area (despite being in Southeast), and I have to say that it really IS a great place. Overall good music playing on four floors (different music on each floor), none were so packed that I didn't have space to move, the people were generally not bad in regards to both looks and manners, and it was clean. I didn't even mind the hired dancers in their skimpy silver outfits and false eyelashes who danced on their platforms. Oh, and the bartenders were pretty good - one girl who served me was incredibly generous with the alcohol. But that was just icing. Actually I did see one problem with the place: hip hop gets played on the first floor, and there is a giant bar in the middle but no actual dance floor, so bodies were spread out in random places. Kind of weird, but whatever. Overall I was impressed. I suppose I had a great time partially because: I didn't pay cover or wait in line, my drinks were bought for me, and I got into the VIP areas. Oh, and also I went with Luisa, who always makes a fantastic dancing buddy; ran into another friend Natasha, who's friend is in my English class; and to my surprise and delight, Charlie came and brought some friends, one of which is in my Math class and proved to be a really fun dancer. I danced a LOT that night, and that in itself made it a damn good night. Thanks to that snow storm, I didn't have class all week. (Well actually I had one class on Thursday, but I skipped it.) Due to the time off, I've gone out every night since Tuesday. Not that I was drinking every night, I was just out and having a great time. I actually had a social life! It's such a funny thing to say since I usually enjoy down time and staying in and doing nothing. (Hehe Angela usually goes "Yay! You actually came out to party with me" when we go out together.) But nah, I got out every night and actually had fun during all of them. I think partying is the thing I should do a lot now while I'm still a kid and have no responsibilities. I didn't party too much in college, except maybe junior year. Or rather, I went out a lot, but didn't take full advantage of it. There were a lot of things I could have done, but didn't, and that's fine now. But I have even more opportunities to go out here at home (yay having a big city close by) and I should take them while I can. Not that they'll disappear when I, ya know, "grow up" (translation: start working), but I doubt I'll be able to go out every night without it messing me up. Perhaps. Anyways, in light of all the hullabaloo and a recent viewing of High Fidelity, I decided to compile a top 5 list of songs that are currently guaranteed to make me get up on that dance floor: 1. Sean Paul's "Shake That Thing" 2. Wayne Wonder's "No Letting Go" 3. Biggie's "Hypnotize" 4. Ice Cube's "You Can Do It" (I think. It was definitely a song on this soundtrack, though.) 5. Christina Aguilera's "Dirrty remix" And I've also been playing around with another list: Top 5 best looking NBA players: 1. Allen Iverson of the Philly 76ers (DUH!!!) 2. Michael Jordan of the Washington Wizards (yup, even at 40) 3. Cuttino Mobley of the Houston Rockets (saw him on Cribs and yummmmy) 4. Ron Artest of the Indiana Pacers (saw him in some interview... hottie) 5. Kevin Garnett of the Minnesota Timberwolves (didn't make the list 'til the all star game) And 2 honorable mentions: Cutest in that Pound Puppy kind of way: Tracy McGrady of the Orlando Magic Most Endearing: Yao Ming of the Houston Rockets |
