| 18 November 2002 11:49 am Monday What a weekend, folks. I went to see Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets with Pete. That was fun, but I think moreso because Harry really does look like k.d. lang. I don't know if I'd have enjoyed the movie quite as much if I didn't notice that thanks to this very funny review. Oh, and it wasn't entirely wrong; it was just overly harsh. Quite a few things were lft out and tthere were some jumpy spots. I think that because I've read the book a couple times I was able to fill in gaps where the movie jumped. Plus having the one and only kid under 14 in the theater sitting next to me and giving a running commentary on the movie's accuracies and inaccuracies helped. But yes, overall the movie was fun (despite Ron Weasly's ever annoying face), and far better than its predecessor (then again, that wasn't hard to beat). My biggest complaint about the movie (prepare yourself, this will be a surprise) was that my future husband had a full 3 lines, if even, and all of 4 minutes on screen. Oh the pain. The PAIN! Of course those 4 minutes were oh so sexy. Oliver Wood has a much bigger role in the next HP book, therefore had BETTER have a bigger role in the next HP movie. There will be he1l to pay if he doesn't! That boy (who most certainly is legal) and his Scottish accent are undeniably swoon-worthy. (What is it with me and tall guys with brown hair and eyes with foreign accents who are in fantasy movies adapted from books?!) Yes, you're all invited to the wedding. All of them. I went to this neat little bookstore/restaurant place in Dupont Circle on Saturday night with a girl I'd known in high school and 2 of her friends (one of which is a trainer at my gym). That was fun. We sat around drinking and blabbering on. Then two of them bought some sex books. Yes, sex books, complete with diagrams. Luisa and I were reading hers out loud while we waited for the metro (yeah, there was no way I was going to drive into DC on a Saturday night) and caught a few strange looks from people. Overall good night. Oh, I've been working more on my wishlist 2002, for those of you who care to buy me something for upcoming Christmas and my 22nd birthday. Hint hint, nudge nudge. There's nothing particularly extravagant on the list... maybe next year. Lol. |
