| 15 November 2002 3:15 pm Friday I love how we're seeing Christmas sales advertised on tv now... and it's not even Thanksgiving. Personally, I don't mind too much because Christmas means that my birthday is coming up (for gift ideas, go here), but it's just SO early this year. Yes, I understand that businesses need to create the buzz so people will start buying to make up for a generally lacking spending atmosphere... but now we'll all be bombarded with Martha Stewart's six coordinating holday sets (oh, for joy), Old Navy's new stupid @ss commercials, and every department store's Christmas sale (ooh! new ornaments that cost $12 each!) ads for the next 6 weeks? But hey, sales are sales... and you bet I'll be at the mall for them! AND this gives everyone plenty of time to shop in advance for gifts for me. Ah yes, the most wonderful time of the year is upon us. I'm going to see Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets tonight. I hope to God that it's not as bad as the first movie. One review from the Washington Post that I read was quite harsh. But the review was SO funny that even if it's wrong and the movie is wonderously funny, you just have to read the it for entertainment value. The scary thing is that little boy Radcliff really does remind me of k.d. lang... And if the review is right... it's still money decently spent because I get to see one of my future husbands, Sean Biggerstaff! One track mind, folks, that's all I have! Lol. The HP movie is certainly not the only sequel I've been anticipating all year. We all know that I'm all about the original fantasy epic Lord of the Rings. My dad bought the special edition DVD yesterday. While well over 3 hours, the extended movie was so much better. They cut out all the funny parts! And my other (permanent) future husband got more lines, and I got to hear him speak elvish... mmmmm elves.... Yeah, and this 4-disc set was only $25 from Best Buy (well, over $50 if you got the bookends and stuff...)! All this does is whet my appetite for the Two Towers, which is going to be SO much better than the first movie. (Much more violence and Legolas handling 2 blades = better). Yeah, I can't wait. It will put that HP movie to shame, I tell ya! Yeah so I'm trying to convince my dad to get another dog. There's a black lab puppy "free to a good home" that I want. He's already potty trained too! But will we get it? No. Boo. Well, Bishop is a handful and likes to take mouthfuls of our hands... Well, at least I tried, right. |
