| 6 October 2002 6:14 pm Sunday Mom's birthday! I had SUCH an outstanding weekend! And now it's topped off with my dear mom's birthday. Life is good. Yeah, Ithaca was so much fun. On Friday night, after my brilliant roommates got wicked lost while trying to get to the airport - they ended up in Pennsylvania! - I started my time up there with a big laugh. Then Laura and I went to meet up with Jin Soo at Repulbica for some dancing. Now we all know that I like dancing, so that was already going to be fun. But to top the evening off, my old friend (and freaking hot) Bruce works as a bartender there and I got to oogle AND got free drinks! Oh yeah, and some random guy tried hitting on me, which was flattering, too. I knew from the very first night that it was going to be a good weekend. Saturday was APPLE FESTIVAL! It was the reason I wanted to go back up. I mean sure I wanted to see my friends too, but this was the one weekend of apple chips with caramel and hot apple cider and belly dancers and fun music to dance to. And of COURSE - the kettle corn (I waited an HOUR in line for that) and the apple crisp. Ah the apple crisps... I spent the whole day looking for it and I couldn't find any until I saw a man pushing a 3 tier tray full of fresh ones. He looked at me and said, "Fresh baked." And I knew I had to have one. I left Jin Soo and Billie in line for the kettle corn almost singing "apple crisps!") and followed the apple crisp man. I was chasing him. I would not let him out of my sight! Oh yes, I was to have my apple crisp after all. And what yummy apple crisp it was. *drool* I still don't know how I only ate a piece and then took the rest of the pie home. The best part was that things got better after apple fest! I hit dinner with some good friends at one of my favorite restaurants. Then Laura and Laura and I went to Mahogany (great martinis there) and then to Moonshadows. And oh my god, that was a blast. Apparently I wasn't the only person from my graduating class who decided to come up for the weekend. I ran into SO many people that I wasn't expecting to see. Lots of hugs, lots of talking, lots of joking around. And of course my big ordeal with Ian was too funny (I swear, I laugh SO much with that kid). All I can say is outstanding. Today Billie and Laura came with me to the airport (well, I drove this time because I didn't want to end up in PA). Even though I tried for that first flight, we ended up missing it because of traffic at Whitney Point and being stuck behind people who decided that the speed limit was just too fast for them. So we hit lunch then the mall where Billie was brave enough to walk around in public in her hideous bright orange pj pants. Now that's love! I got some shopping done, and finally made it to the airport. And now here I am back at home where its sunny and much warmer waiting for my mom to come home so we can celebrate her birthday. If anyone asks, she's 35. Lol. I don't think I could ask for a better weekend. |
