| Sunday 5 January 2003 8:35 pm Happy birthday, Josh! I was asking for snow last night, saying something along the lines of 'after being in New York for so long, winters without snow just don't seem right.' I woke up this morning and it's snowing! I don't think it was in the forecast, either! Woo hoo! It came down fast, dropping a few inches to make the entire area a wintery dream. Of course it happened to make driving around pretty sucky, and I got to deal with that when I met Charles for lunch. That was fun, though, as dim sum always is. We also got to exchange gifts, finally. He was in Africa the few days before Christmas, and I was in LA the few days after, and we've both been busy since. He was wonderful enough to get me my make-up case thingie, which is SO cool. So thanks Pete! I had a freaking great time last night. I went to Nation with my friend Luisa and her 2 friends. It was gay night, and Lauren warned me to expect cross-dressers dancing on stage wearing barely anything more than thongs, lots of drugs, and gay men all over each other. I replied, "Yeah well, I went to Ithaca, so I doubt it's anything new." To that she said, "Oh it's worse." Well, despite one very ugly man in a giant blonde afro wig, she was right only about the gay men being all over each other. Most were shirtless, and could dance better than me! Luisa and I kept joking that we felt insecure! Even though no one checked me out as I walked by or danced, I had an excellent time! The music was fast-paced and shook the entire place, the dance floor was crawling with people, but not packed, and some of the gay men dancing on stage or on the giant boxes along the sides had bodies that would put some models to shame. Oh, and there were no sweaty hands reaching to grope (well, not of the heterosexual persuasion), no leering eyes, no cat calls. So pretty much, despite the fact that all the men liked other men, this club was all around one of the most fun I've been to! |
