Margaret Mitchell was born November 8, 1900. She was baptized at the Sacred Heart Church on Peachtree Street in Atlanta Georgia. She came from fives Generations of Atlanta Citizens. Margaret wrote Gone With The Wind from 1926-1936. She was hesitant about showing it to a publisher because she didn't think it was good enough. Eventually Mitchell showed it to Harald Letham after someone said she was wasting her time. Margeret soon sold the rights to her book to David O. Selznick for $50,000. She never wrote another book and sadly was killed August 16, 1949 after being hit by a speeding car while crossing Peachtree Street. |
