| Scarlett is one of the Main Characters, She is a strong woman who has survived through tough times. She thinks she is Secretly in love with Ashley Wilkes and secretly pines after him for years while marrying three other men. The last of her husbands, Rhett Butler, is the one whom she really loves but she doesn't realize it until to late. Scarlett was smart business wise but very stupid when it came to matters of the heart. I really disliked her through some parts of GWTW because she kept treating Rhett like dirt. |

| Rhett is a self-proclaimed Cad. He isn't recieved in any decent home, and has a horrible reputation. He plans on living his life style of many mistresses and plans never to marry until he meets Scarlett. He doesn't want to marry her he wants her to be his mistress, but he loves her, and resolves from the beginnign if he ever does marry, it will be to her.. He hides his feelings, scared that she may use them against him. When Bonnie dies so does his heart. I Think Rhett never stops loving Scarlett, he is just fed up with her, and he should be, now Rhett is no Angel Either. His pride as well as Scarlett's is what doomed their marriage. And despite constantly Saying he isn't a Gentleman, he is. he was always there for Scarlett, and though what he said and did was Questionable at times he still couldn't totoally hide his upbringing to be a Southern Gentleman. He is Definitly My Favoriet Character. |

| Melanie Hamilton marries her cousin Ashley Wilkes. She is Scarlett's Sister in Law by her first husband. Melanie sees only good in everyone. She is a kind soul and a True Lady. Melanie's kindness let's her refuse to see Scarlett's dislike for her. She Loves her more than anyone except for Ashley and then even at times she sides with her sister-in-law over her husband. Melanie sadly dies while pregnant with her second child. Melanie Wilkes was what every southern girl was brought up to be. She was not Physically strong, but she had a 'Quiet Strength' about her. She Had Heart. She cared for others before herself, and always saw the good in every one. Melanie was the opposite of Scarlett in intellegence. She knew matters of the heart. She knew that Scarlett and Rhett loved each other long before they did. She Truly Was a Great Lady |

| Ashley WIlkes, a former beaux of Scarlett's, married his cousin Melanie. Ashley lives in a Dreamworld. He is a Southern Gentleman. Ashley tries to avoid Scarlett because of her 'Love' for him. He Was smart though, he didn't support the war, and knew they would lose. He also knew that he wouldn't belong in the new world the war gave birth to, but to the old world. Ashley was a coward. He toyed with Scarlett. He always said it was 'honor' which kept him from running away with Scarlett, and didn't admit to Scarlett that he loved Melaine until it was too late. Now Scarlett was at fault too, But, He Did lead her on. Ashley was stupid. I think he liked having the devotion of Scarlett, in a way. He used her devotion to watch over his wife, by making Scarlett promise him, to care for her, knowing she would do anything for him. He dropped the hint to Scarlett which made her have seperate bedrooms from Rhett (in the book) which was a big part in their break-up. Ashley never thought Rhett was good enough for Scarlett and he never liked him so he took it upon himself to tell Scarlett so, though ever so subtley |
