Welcome to the web site of Scarborough LETS. LETS stands for Local Exchange Trading System. It is based on a simple but revolutionary idea. In essence LETS is a not-for-profit trading network that facilitates the exchange of goods and services within a community without the use of money. A local currency is used for purchasing goods or services from fellow members of the local LETS network. The first scheme was founded in 1982 and has since spread across the world with over 200 LETS schemes operating in the UK. |
