Our Rules
for Archer Raceway, as of August 28, 2000, (updated Sept 2001) are
now on a separate page.
Luf is now posting results
for Monday
nights weekly on his new web site.
Monday nights, practice
is at 5:00, and racing starts at 6:30. We're usually done by 11:00 or 11:30.
Holiday Mondays we practice
from noon, and race at 2:00.

As I said on the main page,
Luf replaced the upstairs Track's 1 & 2 with a new 5 laner (July
2001).
The hillclimb
is finished, have a look!
There are links to more
pics and some video clips on Luf's
new web site, including the latest project, a Nascar tri-oval.
This is so much like the real thing, with drafting and massive wrecks.

--- Here are some more shots of the original Track
1, the revised Track
1(b), and Track
2, (that were not used in the links on the front page).
--- Here is Track
3, a 5 laner on a 24 x 8 table downstairs
- first
laps run December 9, landscaping and timer coming soon
- here
are some more
shots of Track 3.
The original rules and
the lap timer program for Commodore were created for 1/24 scale racing
by the group that has come to be known as the "Westside
Boys".
Their club track was built
in the mid 1970's, at a business in south Vancouver, and ran for about
15 years. It was on the mezzanine level when I saw it.
This track, in a new layout,
was reincarnated in Ron C's basement. I actually got to do some laps during
warm up, and shot video one night when they were racing.
A very much abbreviated
version of that same track now resides at Wallace's World, near 128 and
84, in Surrey.
Some of these veterans
helped form the current HO
club, and now race at Archer as well.
(...and, as it turns out,
small
world, Luf was a charter member, and the builder of that original
track...)
(If anyone from the old
crowd has pictures from later than the one's I've posted, let me know please.)
(Here's a couple from
1960's
racing. Thanks Lari.)
(This is something
(???) Luf built. Did anyone order Pizza? From Europe?)
It turns out that Dave
and Neill joined us from Apollo
Hobbies.
They have a humungous
8 lane, and a smaller 4 lane at their location in Burnaby.
They plan to host Wednesday
night, Friday, and Saturday racing this fall --- after Radio Control
season is over. (when the monsoons return to flood their outdoor
track)(...and, they might be building a routed track soon...YAHOO!!!)(wall
removed and track now in works - stay tuned)
(Dec. 9 - track sections
all built in place for fit, routing next)
Here are some more shots
of Apollo
Raceway's track.
Don and Brandon have a
routed track in North Van (that was featured in their local paper, and
I'm looking forward to trying).
Perry has a plastic track
in New Westminster that he calls Royal City Raceway.
Perry and Apollo are starting
a "Box Stock Nascar" series on alternating Wednesdays.
Photo's of North Van,
Royal City, Archer, and an Ho Tractor are in Kelly's
Photo Album on another site.
Jamie (from HO) is using
his 1/32 track on the HO table. (Better move it soon pal, Friday night
racing starts in a couple of weeks)
And, we were "invaded",
on the July 1st and 4th long weekend, by a group of PSSRA
members from Seattle. I've been e'ing Iceman. He says they are coming back
in October.
(have a look at their
Photos / Tracks. Apollo is #12, and it must of been a Canadian who first
invented #6, EH!) ;-)
