Our rules are more SPRINTS
oriented than the ENDURANCE style of the commercial tracks.
We run four races in each
lane, and rotate through the lanes.
Each race is ten laps,
flat out, with no holds barred!
If you crash before ten
laps, YOU ARE OUT, and are marked fifth, fourth, third, etc.
The surviving cars line
back up for a restart, and run the remaining laps.
With Luf's rating system,
rookies run against slower guys, so a faster person having to lap the slower
for position is not usually a factor.
(Take a look at our stats.
The top twenty four are within two seconds.)
If a crash occurs on the
last lap, the race is run to the end.
CRASHING SUCKS!!!
The main advantages of
sprints are that:
a- NO Corner Marshal can affect the outcome of the race
by accidentally knocking off other cars, and
b- that the tracks can be much more complex,
because no corner marshal's spaces are needed.
The racing is much
more intense! Come check it out, we think you will agree.
As of Monday, August 28, 2000, the
following rules apply for 1/32 racing:
(there have been
some modifications,
so as of September, 2001, here is where we stand)
ENTRY FEE - $5.00
$3.00
for the track fund and $2.00 for the prize fund
40-10 LAP RACES
4 races
per lane, 5 lanes, on two tracks in one direction,
OR,
on one track in both directions, depending on turnout.
POINTS PER RACE
First
guy out or fifth place finisher gets 1 point
Second
guy out or fourth place gets 2 points
Third
out and third place gets 3 points
Fourth
out and second place gets 4 points
The
winner gets 5 points
FASTEST LAP
Fastest lap
of the nite gets $2.00 (there will be 2, one per track OR per direction)
PRIZE MONEY
$4.00 go
to fastest laps
Balance of
prize fund gets paid out:
Winner (most
points) gets 60% of the pot
Second place
gets 30%
Third place
gets 10%
EXAMPLE
10 racers
so the pot would be $20
$4.00 goes
to fastest laps
$8.40 goes
to the winner (60% of $14.00)
$4.20 for
second place
$1.40 for
third place
Ties could
be resolved by a 5 lap race.
This way everyone that
wants to race pays up at the beginning of the nite and all the money gets
paid out at the end of the nite. Fastest lap does not have to be a lap
record. Racing should start at a set time, 6:30 or 7:00, so there's time
for testing, etc. The computer would be set for 10 lap races so the timer
will shut off after 10 laps.
There may even be time
to run a second rotation on a low turnout night.
(for another $2.00...woo
woo)
Luf prefers this system because it will allow everyone to compete without having to show up every race nite or committing to a full season. And we might get longer than 1/2 lap races.
As far as cars go, we are
banning metal chassis, Lexan bodies, foam tires and traction compound.
The cars we've all been
running seem to work well. (BUT YOU MUST HAVE A DRIVER AND A WINDSHIELD)
The rating system we are
now using to set the race order, is based on the points average, instead
of fast times.
So a new guy will still
not have to race against Norm. (or Luf, or Vince, or ...)
