Lamira's Language
The History of the Lamira
The first Lamira were driven into the ocean thousands of years ago, following the destruction of the Bardosi Forest, which had previously been their home for countless centuries. Fearing the smoke and fire which rained from the sky and set their homes alight, the Lamirans fled for many days and nights, across desert and mountains, until finally they reached the forest of Khandava. Here they eked out a living from the meager supplies that Nature provided them with. Eventually, they discovered the bountiful supplies of fish, sea weeds and shellfish in the waters of the Western Sea, and eventually spent more and more time in the warm waters. Over hundreds of years, these people evolved to be more suited to the oceans, and gradually moved out of the Khandava and into the Sea. There, they gradually sectioned off into tribal groups who each chose a specific area of the sea to live their nomadic existence.
The Mythological Beginnings of the Lamirian Race
My mother would often tell me of the creation of the world we lived in. She would tell me of how the Gods came to be, how the waters flowed out from the palms of Messri, Mother Earth, and the sun came up from below the salty oceans and was blessed by Taessri, Father Sky, Himself. This is how she told the story...
In the beginning of the world, there was naught but the dry, bare earth, Mother Messri, and the wide, blue sky, Father Taessri. The sky took the earth in His arms, embracing Her nakedness in His own. In the first coupling, Mother Messri spread her arms and the waters rushed forth, filling the deep valleys of the earth with the joy of Life. The sun rose from beneath these waters, spilling light onto the blue sheet of water that was still as a sleeping babe.
Pleased with what they had created, Mother Messri and Father Taessri rested for a while, resplendent in the light of the sun and the shimmering reflection from the waters. The second coupling brought forth animals of every shape and size, in all the colours of the rainbow. The fish emerged from the still sea, the birds from the flowing air, and the crawling animals from all the burrows of the land.
The third coupling was, indeed, a most magnificent one. From this, Mother Messri and Father Taessri produced all the mountains and valleys, all the hills, the forests, and reefs of coral in the ocean. The animals of the earth reserved their private domains; The foxes in the burrows of the earth, the birds in the currents of the domain of Father Taessri, the fish in the waters of Mother Messri and, indeed, every animal had its home.
The fourth coupling created all the upright creatures of the land and the water; the Lami', the forest-elves, the stone-elves, the unpointed ones, the forest- and jungle-snakes, those of the mountains and the desert, the diminutive beings of the fire, the hard-skinned tailed ones, and the furred creatures.
The fifth and subsequent couplings created the new Gods of our world;
Alante, Goddess of the Currents and the Storm
Chakri, God of the Predators and the Prey
Mynktin, Goddess of Death and Caretaker of Departed Souls
Nika, Goddess of All the Plants in the Waters
Lyanti, Goddess of Serenity
Tiak, Scribe of the Gods Additional Gods not born from the womb of Mother Messri:
Bryktar, God of the Damned and Master of Etiun-Mira
Tybus, God of Truth and Justice
Rat, God of Thieves, Rogues and Outcasts
