1)Avoid physical contact with anyone
2)Treat everyone that you have had physical contact with. All family members must be treated at the same time. Include pets in this, mites can cling onto their coats & their bedding
3)Use fresh towels & bed linens after each shower
4)Must shower every 12 hours with non-toxic shampoo & soap (which I cover in TEATREE OIL link). New mites are hatched out every 12 hrs. The males roam around on top of the skin & can travel 1 inch an hour. The females burrow under the skin to lay eggs. If you are continually knocking down the males, eventually no more eggs can be fertilized
5)Any clothing that cannot be washed, place in plastic garbage bag, squeeze all air out & tie tightly. Do not open for 2 weeks. This will smoother mites
6)Vacuum daily your floors, carpets, sofas, chairs, mattress, & spray them with a non-toxic mite repellent, which we cover in TEATREE OIL link. Remove vacuum bag outside after each use, spray vacuum before bringing back in house. Put a plastic mattress cover on to cut down on your daily cleaning. I just spray & wipe it between linen changes. Put your pillow in a plastic bag until infection has cleared or you may be recontaminating yourself
7)Spray down your shoes after wearing
8)Wash all laundry in HOT h20 & dryer on the hottest setting. Mites don't die until after 120 degrees & 50 mins in the dryer. You may have to turn up your h2o heater.
9)Scrub your hands & arms with antibac soap & hot h20 for a couple minutes before touching clean laundry. Avoid recontamination!
10)Soak brushes, combs & any hair accessories in hot soapy h2O
11)Blow-dry hair well, esp around ears & face
12)Clip finger & toenails short, they hide everywhere!
