It has been routine for most MDs to recommend treatment starting from the jaw down to the souls of the feet. In my own experiences for years I've had to beg my docs to give me enough Kwell or Elimite to treat my head & hair. I am sure this is one of the reasons it took so many applications to get rid of all of them. From the scabies crusting my eyes, making my ears itch & swell, & lesions on my scalp, I knew they had to be on my head & in my hair, (after all,they stay in clothing). I was relieved during the last episode I had, my new doc admitted that recent studies coming out say the head, indeed needs to be treated.
HOW LONG DOES THE ITCHING LAST?
The female mite burrows into the skin, lays eggs, leaves feces, & dies. It can take weeks for this debris to be moved out by our body. The lesions & itching is caused by the allergic reaction to this debris. The reaction is almost the same when you have them as after they are dead. The difference I found was while they were alive, they moved more in an active "c" shape on my skin. When I thought all of them were dead, I still itched & there were bigger spots & further apart. All I can deduce is that my body was detoxifying itself at that point.
