Period: Early Bird (7:45am-8:36am); First (8:45am-10:15am), Second (10:20am-11:50am) & Fourth (2:06pm-3:36pm) periods

Course Description:

One term course, 180 hours. Management of the Cadet CORPS. The cadets manage the entire corps during this, their fourth year in AFJROTC. This hands-on experience affords the cadets the opportunity to put theories of previous leadership courses into practice. Planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, controlling & decision-making for JROTC operations will be done by the fourth year cadets. They practice their communication, decision-making, personal interaction, managerial, and organizational skills.

Objectives. Our students will:

1. Apply the theories and techniques learned in previous leadership courses.

2. Understand how to develop leadership and management competency through participation.

3. Apply strengthened organizational skills through active incorporation.

4. Understand how to develop confidence in ability by exercising decision-making skills.

5. Apply Air Force standards, discipline, and conduct.

Course Requirements: See your child’s Cadet Handbook.

Includes conduct, courtesy, classroom policies and procedures, personal appearance and uniform wear.

Course Evaluation.

Uniform & personal appearance inspection every Wednesday.

Writing Exercises. Each week, we will administer a very brief writing exercise based on that week’s JROTC subject or activity. These will count as test grades.

Homework. The instructor will assign homework tasks according to the operations and activities each cadet is involved in.

Physical fitness test consisting of a one mile run or walk, pushups and crunches.

Mid term and final exams.

Conduct and class preparation throughout.

Grades.

Overall each area of student work is weighted according to the following breakout:

Academics 40%

Uniform Wear/Personal Appearance 30%

Homework 10%

Conduct & Class Prep 20%

Each individual evaluation grade scale is as follows:

A = 93 and above

B = 85-92

C = 77-84

D = 70-76

F = 69 and below

NOTES:

The cadet calendar attached may change due to assemblies, pep rallies, field trips and other events. In addition, please note that the first detailed cadet calendar available is the first 4-5 weeks. This will naturally be updated through the semester. See the schedule legend attached for explanation of abbreviations and acronyms.

MATERIALS

Plain notebook paper, ink pen and pencil available for notes every class.

Uniform issued by AFJROTC kept clean and ready for wear and inspection every Wednesday. Uniform cleaned and pressed for turn in at the end of the semester.

Shoes. Comfortable but stable shoes such as tennis shoes for drill. Loose fitting sandals don’t normally work well and can result in tripping while outside on the drill pad. Athletic shoes for Physical Fitness.

Comfortable athletic wear for Physical Fitness (normally on Fridays).

AS. Aerospace Science. We have 4 divisions in AS also.

A Flight is our Early Bird Class which consists of all upper class grades

B Flight is our 2nd period class which consists of all upper class grades.

C Flight is our 1st period class which consists primarily of first year cadets…mostly 9th graders, but also some upper class cadets.

D. D Flight is our fourth period class which consists primarily of our first year cadets…mostly 9th graders, but also some upper class cadets.
