Discussion with Host and Writer

GREG:  This will be our last edition of Good Morning with Greg.  We will be closing the series with a very special guest... the Hostess with the Mostess... the one and only Zoe!  Here, have a seat, luv.  I want to thank-you so much for allowing us all to look in on your game!
ZOE:  Why thank-you, Greg!

GREG:  And it's a real treat to play host to you, for a change.  Survivor Canada 3 certainly was a success, and for that I congratulate you.  There were a lot of twists and turns.  Let me ask you, in the way the game played out, what events surprised you the most?
ZOE:  The way Paleo took total control blew me away... I chose the players carefully, and I went back and forth trying to decide who to put where.  I wanted the tribes to be equal in sexes and ages and I did a great job of that... but I never would have thought that the people I chose on Cree would be so inactive.  All of them said more than once that they'd be active... some of them begged to be in the game and promised to be very involved... yeah right!
ZOE:  But... I also must say that [when it got to] the final 10... I have never had such an active game.  I was totally shocked at what Rick did to Diana.  I was shocked when Staton was voted out.  Miriam was a spitfire for sure.  I knew that Kelley would go far, she is an incredible player.  And Diana, picked her for final 3 also.

GREG:  If you were to compare Survivor Canada 3 to a series of the televised Survivor, which one would you choose?  Why?
ZOE:  Well the tv series had millions of dollars I assume... and alot of help... I did this all on my own.
GREG:  Not in a production sense, Zoe!  In terms of the players!
ZOE:  I had the best!!
GREG:  So... [you're saying] All Stars?
ZOE:  SC4, I have the best of the best!!!  Not one player is inactive.  I carefully hand chose each one from all four of my games.
GREG:  Bzzzz!  Sorry, wrong answer.  The correct answer is that SC3 is most like Survivor Africa.  Yes, Survivor Africa.
ZOE:  (laughs)  Ok, boss.
GREG:  (laughs)

GREG:  If I had been playing the game instead of writing the episodes... and if I'd started on Cree... do you think that would have been enough for Cree to have won all the immunities?  Seriously, how far do you think I would have gone in the game?
ZOE:  I think you would have whipped Cree into shape!!!  And yes, I do believe they would have won alot more than they did

GREG:  Care to give us a preview of All Stars?  Will you reveal which player is your favourite to win?
ZOE:  No!  Totally secret.  But it will be the best.  You all will be surprised at how this game is going to go.

GREG:  Okay, now it's your turn to interview me!  Go for it!

ZOE:  What did you think of SC3, and did you have a winner picked?
GREG:  Gosh... I kept playing "what if" with SC3.  What if these players had aligned, or this person had voted their conscience, or someone clued-in to scheming.  But the game ran really well.
GREG:  My early pick for final two was Rick and Diana.  They were well-liked, organized, and had everything covered — except for each other!  But I was so hoping that the Cree would give them a run for their money.  I really didn't entertain Jon as the winner until very near the end.

ZOE:  He was cagy.  He played totally honest and came out a winner.
GREG:  Yes.  But at the same time — and I don't mean offense — the final two were both a bit cowardly.  They didn't take a lot of risks.  They both stuck with the majority as long as they could.  The only real "move" was when Rick used a reward to vote out Diana.

ZOE:  What did you think of the game itself?
GREG:  Well, it wasn't the perfect game, but nothing that couldn't be punched-up in editing.  (laughs)  It's difficult for me to separate the game from the players, it's the players who make the game.  I think it suffered a bit from dropouts — which was a bit of a challenge to cover in the writing — but definitely a solid final ten.

ZOE:  What did you think when writing the episodes... for which I will forever be so grateful.  You did an amazing job!
GREG:  I guess the game went in three blocks... the pre-merge, the early merge, then the endgame from the final six onward.  Different players and plotlines dominated each and made for what I hope was an interesting story.

ZOE:  And what do you think of the host?  Are you looking forward to being in her next game?
GREG:  Oh, the host, she's damn sexy!  (cough, cough)  Zoe's cool.  Not the perfect host, but way at the head of the class.  Tell you the truth, I feel like I know what all of the players went through, even the ones who were complaining or whining or frustrated about the game.  That comes from my experiences in SC2.  I was taking that game too seriously.  But, despite what I might have said then, I am looking forward to All-Stars.
