Research:
Declined Research Assitantship from Prof. Naba Gupta, the most productive faculty in the department, to work on the most potent anti-cancer drug Adriayamycin for a least-productive father-made, DMS Wheeler, a criminal by all means. My biggest mistake in life.
Developed two new synthetic methodologies of large use despite all adversities.
Conjugate 1,4 reduction of B-keto enolethers to B-OR ketones under mild conditions to prevent dealkoxylation.
Generated quantitive regiospecific 1,3 cis-glycols under mild condition preventing dehydrative aromatization which was the biggest hurdle that baffled 60 groups all over. After a call from the Nobel Prof. Herbert C. Brown for a post-doctoral fellowship used his T-Hexyl Borane to convert allylic alcohol to 1,3 cis-glycol on June 1979, much before Prof. Clarck Still of Columbia University where D-a-Mess Wheeler was doing Sabbatical.
Used Non-Polar solvents for selective 1,2 over 1,4 nucleophilic attact on B-Keto enolether system.
