AIT Day 33

October 29th, 2002

Like I said, extra duty let out way after bed check last night. While I was busy "working," I asked around my barracks if I could switch my CQ shift for that night with somebody so I could get some sleep. It worked out perfectly. Somebody took my shift last night and I took his 1830 to 2030 shift today. He'll get those two hours back for personal time tonight, and being at the CQ desk will get me off extra duty for most of tonight.

Yesterday contained more good news. I found out I have the highest grade average in my class (98.1%) and I got a form to fill out for an overnight/weekend pass for the upcoming four day Veteran's day holiday. The DS said we get a pass request form if we're in phase five. I'm probably going home in two weekends! I like the way the army celebrates federal holidays. There's a four-day weekend almost every month. I'm going home for Veteran's day, probably the weekend after that, and for Thanksgiving for like four days. By then I'll only have 19 days left up in this biatch. And I'll probably go home sometime in December before graduating. It's all good in the hood.
