AIT Day 27

October 23rd, 2002

Oh man, this class is so boring. I can't stay awake. We "learned" about the atom and electricity. We also "learned" what a battery does.

My name was called yesterday after final formation along with a bunch of others (about 9 of them). We were read our rights for that article 15 we're getting today. See? I told you they were handing them out like candy. I found out my maximum punishment is 14 days of extra duty. If I start now it will not conflict with my first off-post pass. I get to talk to the captain. I have an argument written down to attempt to minimize my punishment. Basically, the battle buddy policy was not made clear. The day it was made clear (on Columbus day), my class was at the cleaners getting measured for class A uniform refitting. I don't have any stripes or brass, so I doubt the captain will give a damn. They need people on extra duty. There are only like three left. Someone has to buff, sweep, wash, cut, be the DS's bitch, etc for the next two weeks.

They clarified the battle buddy and visitation policies again two days ago. Probably because of me. It was too late though. The policies are such bullshit. The highlights are: girlfriends/fiancs can only visit with a soldier family member chaperone, husbands and wives can't have ANY physical contact to include hand holding, and there must be a same gender soldier present at all times even with married couples. Like someone has nothing better to do than follow a couple around all day? That bullcrap has to be changed. But on my off post passes, my parents can sign me out and I can get in their car and I don't need no damn battle buddy. I can't wait for that. Three more weeks for my overnight pass. Woo! Oh. We are not allowed to get a room within 30 miles. UPTIGHT.
