The Characters

Here's the place with descriptions of all the main characters which I wrote myself. Click on these links to go directly to the descriptions. Lucas, Joe, AJ, Corey, Gina, Mark, Debra, Eddie, Berko, Warren, Rex Manning& Jane

Lucas

By far the most interesting character in the film, Lucas is the guy that apparently went from being "normal" one day to being "like the Chinese guy in the Karate Kid" the next. He's also the guy that stole the $9104 at the beginning of the movie in hopes of saving the beloved Empire Records from being taken over by Music Town. Lucas seems to have a very care-free and impulsive attitude. He was abandoned by his parents at the age of 10 for being a "bad seed" and we are given the impression that Joe came along and adopted him.
Lucas is played by: Rory Cochrane.

Joe

Joe is the laid-back manager of Empire Records, who puts up with just about anything from the staff and in a way acts like a father to them. And he plays the drums. He really loves the store and was planning to buy it from the owner Mitchell Beck. But after Lucas stole the money, his chances of buying it aren't likely.
Joe is played by: Anthony LaPaglia.

AJ

AJ is the resident artist at Empire Records; he wants to go to art school, but he's afraid. He seems like a sensitive and caring kind of guy. He's also majorly in love with Corey(if you watch carefully you can catch him sketching a few pictures of her throughout the movie). And AJ vows that by 1:37pm he will tell Corey that he loves her. During the movie, he spends most of his time either doing something artistic or fixing the sign on the roof.
AJ is played by: Johnny Whitworth.

Corey

Corey is just your average over-achieving Harvard student. Her father is constantly pressuring her to stay at the top and to deal with it all, Corey pops pills. Her goal today is to lose her virginity to idol Rex Manning.
Corey is played by: Liv Tyler.

Gina

Gina is Corey's best friend, although sometimes she seems more like her enemy. Gina's also known as the resident "turbo slut" at Empire Records. She has done it and will do it again with almost any guy. Her dream is to sing in a band, but she's never even had the guts to audition.
Gina is played by: Renee Zellweger.

Mark

Mark is the man who wants to start a band. And he's also the guy who came up with the idea to "save the empire". Mark seems to be into "moshy" punk and rock music. He doesn't really do much in the movie but provide comical entertainment through his hyperactive nature.
Mark is played by: Ethan Randall/Embry.

Debra

Debra is the disturbed soul at Empire Records and seems morbidly delighted at the thought of death and almost obsessed with it. Within the first 5 minutes she's on camera we see her stick her middle finger up at Corey & Gina and shave her head. So, she's not exactly a perky, people-person and my guess is she probably came from a broken home.
Debra is played by: Robin Tunney.

Eddie

Eddie is the happy-go-lucky guy who knows a lot about music and other things. He's also really good friends with Mark. Eddie didn't really have a main role in the movie but his quotes and dancing scenes made him a memorable character.
Eddie is played by: James "Kimo" Wills.

Berko

Berko is the resident musician at Empire Records, we almost never see him without his guitar. We don't really learn much about him but he seems to really care about Debra. And he also sort-of has that tough, cool punk guy attitude.
Berko is played by: Coyote Shivers

Warren

Warren is the angry, hostile, high-pitched adolescent who attempts to shoplift some CDs but fails. He seems to have a lot of psychological problems but deep down underneath it all I think he just wants a place to fit in....say a record store?
Warren is played by Brandon Sexton.
