IDENTITY CERTIFICATE (POSSESSION AND PRESENTATION) LAW, 5743-1982 * | |||||||
Definitions. | 1. In this Law --

Possession and presentation of identity certiflcate. |
2. A resident who has completed his sixteenth year shall carry an identity certificate with him at all times and shall present it to a senior police officer or the head of a local authority, or to a police officer or soldier on duty when requested by him to do so. | ||||||
Certificate of non-resident. |
3. A non-resident who has completed his sixteenth year shall carry with him at all times an official certificate attesting to his identity and bearing his photograph and shall present it when requested as specified in section 2. | ||||||
Penalty. | 4. A person who contravenes the provisions of this Law shall be liable to a fine of 5,000 shekalim:
Provided that a person shall not be prosecuted for non-presentation of a certificate if, within five days after he is requested to present it, it is presented to the official who requested its presentation or to a police officer at a police-station and the identity of the person is established thereby; when his identity has been so established, he shall, at his request, be given a written confirmation of such fact at a police-station. |
