Here are a few quotes to chew on in light of our recent events...

War is delightful to those who have had no experience of it.
-- Desiderius Erasmus

In war, when a commander becomes so bereft of reason and perspective that he fails to understand the dependence of arms on Divine guidance, he no longer deserves victory.
-- Douglas MacArthur

War I abhor, and yet how sweet The sound along the marching street Of drum and fife, and I forget Wet eyes of widows, and forget Broken old mothers, and the whole Dark butchery without a soul.
-- Le Gallienne

I know war as few other men now living know it, and nothing to me is more revolting. I have long advocated its complete abolition, as its very destructiveness on both friend and foe has rendered it useless as a method of settling international disputes.
-- Douglas MacArthur

Why seeketh thou revenge, O man! with what purpose is it that thou pursuest it? Thinkest thou to pain thine adversary by it? Know that thou thyself feelest its greatest torments.
-- Akhenaton

Suppressed grief suffocates, it rages within the breast, and is forced to multiply its strength.
-- Ovid

A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both.
-- Dwight D. Eisenhower (1890-1969), Inaugural Address, January 20, 1953

And Finally...

I hate quotations
-- Ralph Waldo Emerson

A witty saying proves nothing.
-- Voltaire (1694-1778)

I'm not into all that future telling stuff, but a friend of mine got an email forward that told him that Nostradamus predicted all of this WTC stuff, but, to be frank, it's a crock. Here's a link to a Nostradamus website that puts it pretty clear.

I really doubt that this is The End. It might be the Beginning of The End, but we probably have a long way to go. Here's a quote from my favorite prophet-

"When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come."
--Jesus Christ, Mark 13:7

Notice it says that the end is STILL to come, not that the end HAS come. This too shall pass.

Keep looking to the skies; He will be coming, sooner or later--just make sure you're ready when He does.

This article features one of my Bible teachers, plus it's pretty good stuff. Yes, he's as nerdy as he looks, but everyone here admires him for his intelligence and ministry here on campus.

**He wanted to be sure that everyone knew that the "long funeral dirge for the destruction of Jerusalem and its temple" isn't Ecclesiastes. It's Lamentations. While blushing, he said, "Be careful when someone quotes you, because they just might write down what you say."

The time has come for us to wake up, America, Generation X, whatever we call ourselves. We aren't invincible, and Death is not just in the movies anymore. We live lives filled up by stuff, and it's time that we woke up from the "American Dream," and realize that it is just that-- a dream. The way we live is not reality. We don't know what a relationship is. We don't know the meaning of sacrifice. We don't even know what is going on outside, unless we see it on a blog or Tom Brokaw tells us first.

My Dad always tells me of a time when everyone knew their neighbors, when you didn't have to lock your doors--a time before suburbs, fast food, mini malls, and phone sex. We don't know what real life is. All we know is convenience. We are so self-centered. We don't have a clue.

Call your Mom and let her know you love her. Get to know your brothers and sisters. Hug you kids. Shoot, go bake your neighbor a pie and tell them, "hello." Relationships are all that matter.

I hope that we heed this warning. I fear any larger "wake up calls."

"The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love."
-Galatians 5:6b

"We need to feel this, we need to be so very aware how real this is, how close to all of us this is, that this isn't their pain, but our pain."
-The Grace of Tragedy

"At a time God's people should be coming together, seeking his face, we're glued to the TV."

Umm. Yea. My friend just told me that he just waited in line for 45 minutes for gas. I hear that the prices in KC and Columbia, MO are like $4/gal. Maybe the Apocalypse is coming after all... :)

My first reaction was shock. When that professor burst into class and said, "We've been attacked" all my blood ran from my head. As I went home and watched the video of people jumping to their deaths rather than face fire, passenger planes used as missiles, and finally, two behemoth strucures that represent our modern accomplishments going down in flames and shattered glass, I turned to God. Running constantly across the bottom of my TV screen was a flow of announcements of local churches open for prayer.

He was not suprized by this. I thought I was going to puke, but He was ready. Is this our final wake up call? When will we turn to God? I've given up on us as a nation, but when will the individuals that make up our nation realize that there is no hope outside of Christ? How much longer will God be patient.

When I initially heard the news, the thought crossed my mind that I may die today. I was scared, but a part of me almost leaped in expectation.

Is this the Apocalypse? Probably not. I'll still be watching the skies.

Revelation 22:20
"He who testifies to these things says, 'Yes, I am coming soon.'
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus."

OK. I gripe about talking vs. action. What can we, as Christians do about this terrorist deal? How can we reach people with the Love of Christ. The best I've heard is giving blood, and I'll probably be there tomorrow, but does anyone else have any ideas?

Oh yea. The hackers are doing their part for patriotism. Check out what they did to the Teleban.

I made some pictures. I'm only putting them on this page becuase they kinda have a message to them. They're not those weird-kind-of-artsy-things-that-you-only-understand-if-you-do-drugs or something. Here's the link.

I think that this is one of the scariest pictures I have ever seen.

I need to read this.

The Verse of the Moment:

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.

Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.
--John 1:1-5
