Comments: To whom it may concern, I was one of young Christopher's, also known as, "Gerb", best friends. As each year goes by, I miss him more and more. At times I think about the tragic night, as I was speaking to him an hour before the deadly incident, as he was asking me if he or Dawn could bring anything out to the show, because we were celebrating my birthday. I wish I would have told him, just come out tomorrow instead. But, that won't change anything know. I've had some of the best times of my life hanging out with Chris and Dawn. We used to have alot of fun, and I would not trade that for anything. Anyway, if you can hear me Chris, I love ya and I miss ya. Your bud Lou Blue

Comments: Reply to #99: Al Pitrelli is a standard guitar player who learned his chops at school. Al also has had very little to do with the recent success of Savatage. [If you can call only touring overseas recent success!] I want to ask you this: If Al has so much career changing talent how come all the other bands he has played with haven't done squat? Al has played on many records recently with very successful people, and still their cds didn't do much. It is the incredible songs that Jon Oliva writes that enable Al Pitrelli and Paul O'Neil to shine so brightly. I would be willing to bet that no one had even heard of either of these people before they had the privelige to CO WRITE or just solo over such greatnesss. Never forget the fact that Criss and Jon's names are the only ones on THEIR record deal. Also, Savatage enjoyed over 100 stations playing "Edge of Thorns" in the U.S.[which happens to be the true measure of success on the world-wide level]. This was the last CD Criss Oliva played on, and also the last time anyone in US radio considered playing Savatage songs in any kind of regular rotation. Lastly, in more recent Sava history, (Post Criss era) Jon Oliva and Paul O'Neil are the genuises behind the songs. I would suggest you pick up ANY record that Pitrelli has song writing credit on and simply compare his overall skills to the great Criss Oliva. One last comment - did you know that Criss and Savatage signed a ten album, ten year record deal when Criss was only 19 years old!?! At that time Al Pitrelli was still jacking off to the Diary of a Madman CD....meanwhile, Max Norman (who produced Diary of a Madman] offered Criss Oliva the gig playing with Ozzy right after Randy Rhoads died. In closing, I would like to mention that Al is no longer with Savatage, but has joined Megadeth, who also offered THE GREAT CRISS OLIVA THE JOB BEFORE MARTY FREIDMAN, BUT SETTLED WITH MARTY WHEN CRISS TURNED MUSTAINE DOWN. So, let's not hear any more rubbish about a guitarist who did not successfully replace Criss, let alone take the band to any new level.

Comments: Excellent site. I also feel that Criss was brilliant musically, and from what I've heard, he was also a helluva good guy. It's through things like this that his memory will always live on. Very well done. =)

Comments: You my friend are not alone by any means! I've been a Sava fan for years and definitely agree with your views. I still like them, but Criss' absence is unmistakeable! I actually met him a few times and have lots of signed items from him and the "real Sava." I appreciate your web site and the effort and work you put into it! It's good to know other fans feel the same way. Keep up the great work and take care! Sincerely, Rob

Comments: I have been listening to Savatage since the age of 13 (now 25) and through those years many bands have come and gone, many have tried new things to keep our attention, but have only failed because the "bandwagon" had too many passengers. This band is the definitive representation of "talented" a word often overused today. I know few bands that you can listen to and HEAR every instrument as if it were on its own pedistal. The vocals and music come together and unite like old friends. Savatage has always and still does do it like like no other. Their combination of harmonies, orchestra, rock, poetry, and the most talented musicians in the world make this band an original and by far the best thing that has ever entered my ears.
