Tell Me It's Madness - Part 7
TELL ME IT'S MADNESS
=+Part 7+=

The trial has been going on for almost a week. The verdict was to be given today, but Leonie won't be able to know whether Darren's let off free or is convicted - she was too busy.

"Great - the verdict's out today and I'm not around to hear it," grumbled Leonie. This was the only day throughout the whole trial where she's absent. Daniel was accompaning Darren today, and she made sure he gave Darren his full support. Her work finished, she decided to read up on the case.

"Interviews...evidence...hmm, something's not quite right," said Leonie to herself. Her biggest doubt was the photos shown by the prosecution, Alex's unfinished drawing and the skull and crossbones on the HJs wrapper. Where on Earth have I seen that image before? she thought. Behind one of the articles on the case was a kids' science section, which was talking about light. A few pages later was an article on Harlet Jacks, the prosecution witness. Harlet was formerly John Woodruff's partner before he hired Savage Garden, at which point Mr. Woodruff paid more attention to the duo rather than his partner. Harlet was mad at Mr. Woodruff so she decided to open a rival record company, Harlet Music, with her friend Kevin "StarTrek" Pichard. Unfortunately her recond company did not garner any artists, so she gave up all and worked as a secretary. Leonie was reading the articles with intent when she realized something...

"Oh my God! That's it! I know who did it!" exclaimed Leonie to no-one in particular. "Better get to court before they pass the verdict!" She took all the newspaper cuttings, the science article and an eraser and ran off to the courtroom.

It was a very tense situation in the courtroom. The verdict was going to be passed very soon. Darren was worried to death.

"Daniel...I'm so scared!" said Darren. "What if they think I'm guilty? It'll be the end of Savage Garden for sure!"

"Don't worry Darren - I'm sure they will find you innocent!" assured Daniel. Just then Judge Haydin walked in.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, have you made your decision?" asked Judge Haydin.

"Yes, Your Honour," said one of the jury members. "We find Darren Stanley Hayes..." Suddenly they heard a door slam and someone crash in.

"WAIT! I know who did it! It wasn't Darren!"
