Biorhythm : Daniel Jones

22nd July 1973. A baby boy was born in Essex, England - Daniel, an only child born out of wedlock. He was left abandoned by his teenage parents near a rubbish dump and wasn't found till a few days later, when a kind family saw the poor boy and took him home. Daniel was legally adopted by the Jones family, who were moving to Australia in three years' time. Daniel was taken along with them, and was in awe at the new surroundings. He started to pay attention to the sounds of anything around him, even the sound of silence. Little did he know how much impact this observation would have on his future...

Although his musical skills were perfect, his academics weren't anything to be proud of. Daniel would usually cut school, earning the nickname "Waggin". His parents would think Daniel's at school, while the school would think Daniel's at home, as usual. The truth, though, was that he was neither at those places. He was instead on the streets, doing what every other school drop-out would do...

Daniel got mixed up with a group of bullies near his neighbourhood and soon got influenced by them. He injected heroin, drank loads of alcohol and smoked packs of cigarettes per day. Soon his "friends" introduced him to another vice - unsafe sex. A night a week, Daniel would visit a prostitute bar and won't return until late the next day. Daniel's family and school soon got worried and searched everywhere for him. They found him, alright - at a friend's house getting drunk.

Daniel was sent to a rehab centre immediately to wear himself off his bad habits. During the two years spent at rehab, Daniel met legendary producer Charles Fischer, who saw Daniel's musical talent immediately and took him under his wing. Charles figured that music would take Daniel's mind off his vices, and it did. It was not to be easy, though...

It was 1992. Daniel's first band Red Edge wasn't doing very well, and Daniel felt like giving up and commiting suicide. He almost fell back to his past, when a bandmember contributed an idea which would save Daniel's life...

"Hey Daniel, why don't we hold an audition for new members?"

An audition it was. Many people came to try their luck, including one quiet boy named Darren, a school-teacher. Even though Darren didn't do very well at the audition, Daniel was impressed with his potential as a singer. He immediately signed Darren on and both of them pursued their musical careers, in Red Edge and soon as members of Savage Garden, Australia's biggest band. Everything wasn't as simple as it was made out to be, though...

As they were writing songs for Charles Fisher's demo, Daniel felt an attraction towards Darren. He passed it off as attraction to Darren's lyrics - Darren was quite good - but soon found out that it was even deeper. Darren noticed Daniel's passes towards him and replied, as he was attracted to Daniel as well. The attraction grew and soon it was confirmed - Darren and Daniel were a couple. That wasn't the end, though - Daniel would usually feel slight pain when he slept and wake up with teethmarks on his neck and bloodstains around Darren's teeth. He didn't suspect anything at first, but he got suspicious. He was to be satisfied soon...

It wasn't long before Daniel found out the truth about his partner. Initially he was shocked, but soon realized that he had a potentionally disasterous past as well. He confessed everything to Darren, who took it with ease. They soon learnt to cope with each other, up to the point of marrying each other. Daniel passed himself off as "Colby" and became Darren's musical partner by day, love partner by night. Both of them thought their troubles were over - unfortunately they were far from being right.

News soon spread and everyone found out about Savage Garden's dark secret. The uncovering was a blessing in disguise for Daniel, though - he found his biological family, including a sister he thought he never had. He was still having a relationship with Darren, and throughout his career in Savage Garden, nothing's going to change that.
