"Come with us little man."
"Who you calling little...you...mutant tin can!" Squeezing Sam's hand lightly, he rose and approached the guards with more bravado than he was feeling, jerking away as the Jaffa gripped a bruised arm. "Keep your paws to yourself! I can walk."
'Give them your strength Daniel' "See you guys later." Sam smiled, blinking against the tears when she heard Daniel's next words. "You know those suits don't do shit against bullets." He'd definately been hanging around Jack too long.
Daniel's suspicions about Bannock were confirmed when he saw the old medicine man scurrying away from the door he now faced. Just as if he could see through the metal, he knew Jack waited on the other side. Waited to release the hurricane of hatred that had been building for almost thirty years. Daniel could almost smell his own fear. Somehow he had to get through to Jack. Make him see he wasn't in Viet Nam, that Daniel wasn't the man he'd detested all those years.
Sam and Teal'c were ushered into Nurti's chambers. "I thought you might enjoy seeing your companions once again." The Goa'uld bitch purred, smiling coldly as she motioned her guards to force them to their knees near her lounger.
On the wall facing them was a screen which showed a sleeping O'Neill lying on the floor. As they watched, unable to look away, they saw a door open into the room and Daniel was shoved roughly inside. Unaware that his friends were a captive audience, Daniel stood, licking his lips, fear all too evident on his battered face. Sam bit her lower lip, tasting blood as Nurti's voice filled the area. "You have the means with which to stop their punishment"
'Turn around Daniel. Staring at the door isn't going to make it open and it's better to know where Jack is; what he's doing. Be able to brace yourself for what may happen.' Daniel's mind was racing. He had to reach Jack. Had to break through what ever was happening in Jack's mind. He'd tried before and failed. According to what Jack had told him, it had taken three days for Major Hai to kill Jimmy. If Jack followed the same time line in seeking revenge, Daniel had to reach him this time. He may not have another chance.
Funny, he knew he was commanding his body to turn but his legs didn't seem to want to listen. Why was it so quiet? Exhaling slowly he turned, his stomach flipping, the color leaching from his face at the sight of Jack's motionless body. Before he realized he'd moved, Daniel was kneeling next to his friend, a trembling hand reaching to feel for a pulse.
He never saw the hand move, only felt the mind shattering pain, heard the crack of bone breaking as Jack's fist smashed against his cheek. Daniel rolled and desperately climbed to his feet, staggering away from the man stalking him, Jack's mindless purpose clear in his eyes.
"Jack...listen to-to m-me...I'm not who you think."
