HELP  !!!

Please guys, now is Crunch time... if all goes according to procedures, the Government  will table two bills tomorrow, the fundamental rights Bill and the Amendment Bill to take the clause " sexual orientation" out of the amended constitution. and then there should be a two week deadline for lobbying..

Please write to the Members of Parliament or the political parties:

Mrs Melville
GAP - 42 Anira & Oronoque Streets, Queenstown, Georgetown

Mr Ravi Dev
ROAR
186 Parafield Leonora, WCD
Fax - 268-3383

General Secretary
PPP
Freedom House, Robb Street

PNC
Congress Place
Sophia (there may be a fax number)

Please try to also to get people to write and post the letters, let the MPs know about the silent lobby, it will just take four pieces of paper, $80 and four envelopes. Also you could write to Stabroek News, Kaieteur and Chronicle newspaper.
Just start flooding them with calls from the minority to ask for the recognition that discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation has no place in Guyana.

Look out for other SASOD events , and please let people know even if you cannot come.

Hey people,

There's a link on this site (in links) www.geocities.com/vidyak1

I posted it here but I never really explored its contents until recently. And you know what - I want all ya'll to go check it out. I thought I was sufficiently informed about a lot of the arguments and ideas people use to put down gay/bi people but I am not, and I am sure many of you are in the same boat. I say, the more informed you are the better able you'll be to deal with some people's ignorance and some of your own stuff.

So go to the site, go to Logos article on common statements and questions addressed... I highly recommend that you click on THINK ABOUT IT... it gave me a new perspective on a number of things.

The other thing is, there's the view that gay/bi folk don't really have to deal with serious discrimination in Guyana. For those of you who are open and out it would be a good idea to share instances when
you or somebody you know was discriminated against. You can even suggest how people can deal with such discrimination. I mean if somebody comes up to you and calls you faggot in your face with the intention to insult or cause conflict... do you do the mature thing and walk away :) or do you......
