Books
The subject seeks them, reads them and, whenever he can, even buys them.

"Plantar un árbol, escribir un libro y tener un hijo."

(From Cervantes times. Clearly, trees are in great need. Of the other two, there is no shortage.)

I read one book every week. Sometimes I read more than that.

Save for Sartre and his happy gang (read The Nausea, and you'll know why), I read every genre there is, though very little poetry.

I have a liking for f&sf, but if the book is interesting and/or entertaining in the least, bring them on!

I don't have many books though. You'll see: in Chile, books pay taxes thrice: materials, printing and selling. Say! Pablo Huneeus (chilean author with a humorous and no-nonsense style for writing... and he writes about interesting issues, too) couldn't understand why, if books were taxed in Chile, Hell itself wasn't.

Me neither.

If anyone tries to tell me that "reading is a privilege of a few" he/she may happily go to hell him/herself!

Its so bad that I'd got to buy most of my books overseas. Once I was in this excellent bookstore in Birmingham, England: Dillon's it was. I walked in, watched some nice books and (oh Thank You Lord for that glorious moment of my life!) I actually bought the books I liked. I was so, well...happy!

I came back to Santiago with a sports bag full of books.

Nowadays, me and my wife buy our books through Amazon.com. Satisfaction Guaranteed 100 %!

Remember: books should be enjoyed, shared (,returned...) and you may even grow to something better for reading them... but they are not to be left standing in a bookstore shelf.

No al impuesto en los Libros!
