| A few minutes later Josef came in and examined Michaela. He asked Michaela if anything had caused some extra stress on her besides her being abducted.
Well, there was this man that showed up at our door this morning. Whats so bad about that? He started telling me that our family had always caused trouble for him. He didnt say his name. All he said was that and then left. Well, for now lets not think about it and lets focus on you. He continued to examine her and then told them that he had to go and get a delivery room ready, but he would be back as soon as he could. Delivery room? Did he just say delivery room? Michaelawell get through this together. ~ ~ ~ The nurses were doing their rounds and they noticed the children in the waiting room. What are you doing here? Anne asked. Dr. Mike, shes in pain. Her tummy hurts. Brian answered. Please make her tummy feel better. Well, Ill see what we can do. Would you children like to go see how shes doing? The childrens faces lit up and soon they were following Anne to Michaelas room. As soon as Anne opened the door, Brian took off running towards the bed. Ma. They gonna make your tummy all better. Michaela smiled and patted Brians back. She then looked at Colleen and Matthew and saw the worried look on their faces. What are those looks for? Im going to be fine and so is the baby. Dont worry about a thing. Colleen and Matthew exchanged glances and smiled. They went over to Michaelas side and hugged her at the same time whispering, I love you ma. Then they turned to Sully who had Brian in his lap and gave him a hug. As they did they softly said, We love you too Pa. At that moment Josef came back into the room and told Anne to take the children to his house so they wouldnt have to wait around at the hospital. When the children had gone he told Michaela that she was going into premature labor, but that he was going to make sure the baby would survive. The hours seemed to go by slow and with each hour Michaelas pain grew. She went from being hostile to just plain mean. Every time Sully would get near her shed yell, DONT TOUCH ME. THATS HOW I GOT HERE TO BEGIN WITH!! Sully was trying to be supportive and understanding. Michaela, you dont really mean that. OH YES I DOAND YOURE NEVER GOING TO TOUCH ME AGAIN!!! NOT IF I HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY ABOUT IT!!! Michaela, youre doing something beautifulYoure bringing a life into the world. Sully said trying to reassure her. Wellif you think its so grand, why dont you do it? Sully gave up trying to comfort her and just stood there silent. Michaela reached out for his hand when she was having a contraction and squeezed it with all her might. Michaelayoure breaking my hand. Michaela just looked at him and gave him that cold stare. Sully knew hed have to keep quiet until the baby came. Finally after what seemed like an eternity Josef came back in the room. Are you ready to have this baby Michaela? What do you think? WellIll take that as a yes. He asked the nurse that was with him to help him move Michaela to the delivery room while Sully followed close behind. It didnt take long after they got in the room for Josef to say the baby was ready to come out. Michaela felt the urge to push and she called for Sully to hold her hand. Sully walked over to her and wiped her hair out of her face. |
