| Chapter 12
For the next couple of days Sully kept a close eye on Michaela. He knew Michaela well enough by now to know that she wasn�t going to admit something was wrong with her. She had been doing better. He noticed she hadn�t gotten sick any more, but her appetite had slightly increased. He didn�t think much of it though, because he thought it was due to her sickness. He was relieved when the week ended and she hadn�t had any more upset stomachs, or so he thought. They were getting ready for bed and Michaela was putting on her nightgown. Sully was by the bed and turned around when he heard her say �Oh no.� and she ran to the bathroom. Sully became worried again. He wasn�t about to just stand by and do nothing. When Michaela came out of the bathroom he told her to get dressed because he was taking her to the hospital. �Sully I don�t need to go to the hospital.� �Michaela, I know something�s wrong with and I want you to go see a doctor.� �Sully, I promised you that if I didn�t get better within a week I would go see a doctor.� �Yes you did.� �I�ll keep my promise, but it�s not necessary to take me to the hospital.� �I know, but it would really make me feel better if you had a doctor check you out today.� She saw the worried look in his eyes and her heart melted. She let out a deep sigh and took his hands in hers. �Sully, I�m o.k. Everything will be alright.� She gave his hands a gentle squeeze and kissed his cheek. She knew there was nothing seriously wrong with her, but at the same time she was also a little worried. She was in bed looking at her calendar and was silently counting the days. She had to close her eyes and did a mental calculation, and then opened her eyes when she realized something. A small smile played across her face and she cuddled against Sully. The next morning she woke up earlier than usual and got dressed. She looked at Sully and saw he was still sound asleep. She scribbled a note and placed it on his nightstand where he was sure to see it, and left. Sully was in a deep dream filled sleep. It was Thanksgiving and he was in what appeared to be a reservation. All of the townspeople were there sharing their food with the Indians. He was at a table talking to some of the town people when he heard his name being called. He turned to see who it was and saw Michaela running towards him. �Michaela? Is everything alright?� �Everything is better than alright.� He searched her face for a sign but all he saw was the excitement. �Sully I�We�We�re going to�.� �Michaela?� �We�re going to have�a baby�a baby Sully!� �Are you sure?� �Yes. Dr. Bernard examined me this morning.� Sully scooped Michaela into his arms and kissed her as he spun her around. He woke to an empty spot next to him. He rubbed the sleepiness from his eyes and looked around for any sign of Michaela. He got worried when he didn�t hear her and sat up in bed. He reached for his watch to see what time it was and that�s when he saw the note. My Love, I am keeping my promise and I have gone to get a checkup. I will be back as soon as my shift ends. Sully was relieved that she had finally been sensible enough and decided to go to the doctor. He got out of bed and got dressed so he could get the children ready for school. His thoughts however were focused on Michaela, and he hoped that everything would be alright. Michaela had arrived at the hospital and ran into her father. �Good morning dear.� |
