| Josef was heading home after his shift at the hospital, saw Sully come out of one of the rooms. Sully? Sully turned around and saw Josef head towards him. Good afternoon, sir. Please call me Josef. What are you doing here? A friend of my dads is in the hospital, so I came in to pay a visit. Sully, would you come over for dinner tonight? Sully stopped and turned to look at Josef. It was nice to have another man at the dinner table. Sully accepted the offer and the two of them headed towards the Quinn house. The whole way there he kept thinking of Michaela. Would she be there? Would she be happy to see him? His heart beat faster and faster as they got closer to the house. They entered the front gate and were almost trampled by a little boy and a little girl who were being chased by Michaela and Liz. They both stopped in their tracks and heard, DUCK! Josef turned around to see Michaela release a snowball from her grasp. Sully however, did not notice it in time and got whacked in the face. Michaela who had been giggling and running after the little kids froze where she was at. Oh, Im so sorry Mr. Sully. That wasnt meant for you. She looked over at her father and half expected for him to be angry. Instead, he chuckled and went inside. Michaela was still standing there not knowing what to say. Sully stared at her in return. Then he bent down, grabbed some snow and made a snowball with it. He took aim, got a devilish grin on his face and fired. Michaela ducked, and the snowball hit Liz. Liz quickly scooped up some snow, turned it into a small ball and as soon as Michaela stood up again took aim and fired. Josef was in his study when he heard the squeals and laughter from outside. He went to the window to see what all the commotion. He saw his two youngest daughters chasing Sully around in the front yard attacking him with snowballs. He loved to see his daughters have fun, but most of all he loved that Michaela who usually had her nose in a book was having fun. Michaela, Sully and Liz played in the snow until it was time to go in for supper. Their laughter filled the room as they walked in. Josef chuckled when he saw them come in covered in snow. Elizabeth however, was not at all pleased. That was not how a young lady should behave. It was just not acceptable. She raised her daughters better than that. They knew that young ladies were not supposed to act that way. Josef could tell that Elizabeth wasnt happy. He took her hand in his and gave it a gentle squeeze. After dinner, Michaela decided to go for a walk and get some fresh air. Would you like some company? She turned around and saw Sully walking toward her. That would be lovely, thank you. Sully grabbed both their coats and they headed out. The walk was a quiet one at first because neither one of them knew what to say. Its a beautiful night. Isnt it? Michaela looked up at the sky and saw all the stars shining brightly. Yes, it is. Sully looked at her and his breath caught. She was absolutely breathtaking. He stopped walking and took her delicate hand in his. Michaela turned around and bit her lower lip. They both stood there staring at each other afraid to speak. Sully took one step closer and traced her face with his fingers. Michaela closed her eyes and took a deep breath no man had ever done this before. She felt him raise her chin, and felt him leaning closer now and just as their lips were about to meet she heard her name being called. Back Next |
