MALES WHO LIKE SPORTS-
These are upper and lower class students. That were not coming to Hillel with much regularity. In an attempt to reach these students the Intraumural Ultimate Frisbee Team was the BEST engagement tool. Here 12 new students that rarely come to hillel joined up on Sunday afternoons to play on the Hillel team.
The other initatives I had directed at these students were an event watching the Gopher Hockey game, pizza at an empowered sports enthusiast's apartment (Adam Fink). We had free pizza and had a fun time. This event made a regular occurance for these students, suddenly a Hillel event that was open to new people.
The Jewish Men's Poker Tournament in retrospect was an awkward name, but the event went over really well. I kept thing low profile in order not to get a gambling permit from the state. My cousins helped lead the logisitics of the event and half of the money that went into the game went to charity of the winners choice. |
