Ernest Christian Tompson
First Lieutenant, US Army Air Force, World War II
Introduction
Ernest Christian Tompson (ECT) was my Dad. I have been organizing his WWII papers, and began
reading them in depth in 1998. Lots of his stories are coming back to me! The intent of these
pages is to (belatedly, but truly) honor him, and especially his work as a pilot in the second
World War. It is also an educational work-in-progress for me. I will be adding more to these
pages, especially photos, as I find them...

(I hope to do a Web site on my Mom, Eunice Mae Pool Tompson, at some point. Interestingly,
I was much closer to her than to my Dad, so I am a bit less motivated to do a site for her.)
Some of John Musgrave's poems A wonderful man and
Vietnam Marine vet. I credit John with first getting me interested in Dad's military aviation career.
Before, and in addition to, viewing the films "Life is Beautiful" and "Schindler's List," I got more
interested in my Dad's WWII experience after reading my favorite author's novel about this war:
Marge Piercy's Gone to Soldiers. I have re-read this fantastic novel 4 or 5 times.
