CREATING A SHADY AREA UNDER A TREE

For a shady tree area, focus on the plants with attractive foliage and flowers as an added bonus. Some STARS of the shady garden are Caladium"Pink Beauty" height & size 2-3 ft., heart shaped leaves marked with a pale pink speckles, deep rose veins & dark green edges.
These are wonderful too. Columbine, Hosta, Impatiens"Accent Series", Caladium"Caralyn Wharton, Hosta"Golden Tiara", Astilbe, Hosta Francee.
START at the back of the tree-add a well mixed soil and 2 inches of compost soil if you have it. Dig in one Caladium "Pink Beauty" if a large pot, if you are buying small plants buy 2 or 3 plant 12 to 18 inches apart.
And one Caladium"Carolyn Wharton" on the other side of the tree. Fill in around with Cloumbine, Hosta Francee, & lots of Impatiens"Accent Series" in one color or many colors!
Then edge the Front and all the way around with  Hosta Ginkgo Graig, Astilbe, Hosta Golden Tiara, with more Impatiens"Accent Series."
Make sure  you leave ample room between plants to grow and come alive!
** Remember to Pinch or cut off Caladium flowers in summer when they appear to extend foliage display** Water well & add mulch to control weeds. Enjoy***

Ponds, lots more good things!
