CNC Milling Simulator

This software was developed in Borland TurboC 3.0 under the guidance of Dr. S.K Sinha (during the fifth semester winter vacations). It shows the simulation of a CNC vertical milling machine on the basis of CNC programs written under the ISO standards. It consists of an editor, in which we write the CNC codes, and the simulator screen shows the graphical simulation of the cutting process and myriads of other information like the current x, y, z coordinates of the tool, coolant position, tool diameter and the CNC line under execution etc.

This software was awarded second prize at the software competition held by Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology (New Delhi).

Motivation for making this software:

CNC programming is an integral part of the Manufacturing scenario and adept CNC programmers should have knowledge of implementing CNC codes in the most efficient way. For this purpose they require immense amount of practice, but the industry cannot afford to waste raw materials and machine time just for the sake of practice of the workers. To solve this problem CNC simulators come in handy, which provide the operator a virtual machining environment to hone their skills. But due to their discrete unavailability in the commercial market and their enormous costs, a need arises for software which could serve as a training tool to cater to the general needs of aspiring CNC programmers. This was the motivation for making this software.

Remote Welding Station for Submerged Arc Welding Machine

This project is guided by Dr. Sachin Maheswari of the MPAE Dept at NSIT. We have acquired the welding data, which includes welding current, open circuit voltage and temperature of the heat affected zone (using K type thermocouples) of the ESAB Autoweld Major SAW Machine. The graphs are developed in TurboC 3.0 using parallel port programming and can be viewed on the computer which is connected to the machine with help of Advantech PCL818HG DAQ card and PCL 8115 wiring terminal. Currently working on the controlling of relays using ULN 2803.
